Is my goal attainable?? Am I not giving myself enough time?

Hi,
So I'm leaving for a 2 month vacation in beautiful, sunny Florida on June 1. I really feel like crap and need to shape up for sure. I've been working out but I've been cheating a LOT.
I'm 5'8.5 (more like 5'9 though) and 140lbs. I was thinking my goal is between 125-128. I wanted a little wiggle room so I can cheat a bit on vacation and not gain it all back.
I work out 4-5 days a week, eat really clean (when Im not cheating lol) and debating either going paleo or vegan/vegetarian (any thoughts on those?
Could I reach my goal weight by June 1 and lose 10-15lbs in 7 weeks? Is that even reasonable? I'm young so I'd assume my metabolism hasn't slowed down yet! (:
thanks!

Honestly for someone who is already at a healthy weight for their height, 15 in 7 weeks would be close to impossible. When you are already pretty lean your body doesnt want to give it its last fat reserves, so just eat at a small deficit from maintenace and you may be able to lose 0.5lb per week or at a push 1lb per week but I don't think that is achievable healthly0

Unless paleo/vegetarianism is something you want to do long term for ethical or whatever reasons, cutting out entire food groups isn't a great idea. You are a healthy weight for your height, and you look pretty lean already from your profile pic.
You may want to look at body recomposition instead. Six weeks eating close to your maintenance with adequate protein levels combined with starting a progressive strength training program will give you some impressive results.

I think for vacation, you should eat at your maintenance calories, enjoy yourself, and have fun. As far as losing 10-15lbs in 7 weeks, the thing to remember is if you push your body too much and too hard, it will push back. You might want to consider taking a more conservative approach by sticking to between 0.5-1 lbs. per week. Try not to get in the habit of giving yourself a deadline to lose weight. It is unnecessary stress. Focus on developing healthy and happy habits and allow it to happen naturally so you'll be able to maintain in the long run.0

thanks for all the input.
I've seen a few people online who've made dramatic changes in bodyweight in 5-6 weeks so I think thats what fueled my unnaturally high expectations.

But they were probably overweight. You're not. Shoot for 0.5 lbs per week. Really, expecting more is unlikely, if you want to be healthy.0 -

Based on the Robinson formula, your ideal weight is 141.8 lbs
Based on the Miller formula, your ideal weight is 144.0 lbs
Based on the Devine formula, your ideal weight is 145.9 lbs
Based on the Hamwi formula, your ideal weight is 144.0 lbs
I personally think you need to explore why, at 18 years old and at a perfectly ideal weight for your age and height, you "feel like crap" and "need to shape up for sure"? What might be going on there? How long have you had a bad body image about yourself? What does that look like? Do you tell yourself you're "gross"? Compare yourself to other girls or magazines? Do you just generally feel guilty about what you eat? Can you give us more insight as to what you're thinking and feeling inside?0 -

I think you should look into a body recomposition rather than weight loss. Look into a weightlifting program that will tighten up your body and make you feel bad a** too. This is a good program: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-easons-livefit-phase-1.html
Please stop talking negatively about your body.0 -

In all honesty, I think I have the whole skinny-fat problem going on. I look at other women my height/weight/age and they look much, much thinner than me. I have no muscle tone whatsoever, fat (and not just a little) on my stomach, thigh, arm, hips, etc.
This is not BDD or an eating disorder - my friends guessed I was 150-160 so I might have to think about just toning up more... but how can I tone up when theres so much fat everywhere? Honestly I think I just have a really small frame as well, so 120-125 just feels right...0 -

That helps, thanks for explaining further! Let me just add an outsider's perspective on what you just said (and please understand there is ZERO judgment in my tone, I'm saying all this in kindness and with the intent of helping you see more clearly, okay?):
1.) You compare your looks to other girl's looks. You like their looks but you don't like your looks. Therefore, you judge *yourself* as being wrong-looking. (As opposed to assuming you're the norm and they're too skinny, for example). Right off the bat, your assumption and judgement is against yourself.
2.) You asked some friends to guess your weight. They are not medical professionals nor personal trainers nor carnival weight-guessers. They guessed you at a higher weight than you really are even though it is impossible for anyone, professional or otherwise, to determine someone's actual weight simply just looking at them. And yet you give these friends' opinions tremendous weight...and use those opinions to, once again, judge yourself as being wrong-looking.
3.) You "believe" you have a "small frame" (has this been backed up by a medical professional?) and that you have "lots of fat" on your body (again, has this been measured by a professional?) so your solution is to go approx 20 lbs under your healthy/ideal weight in order to "feel right" (has this been verified by a nutritionist or medical professional?). You have no facts, only how you feel (which we're starting to see is largely based in comparing yourself to others and absorbing others' opinions), but you're going to make major life decisions that could adversely affect your health based on beliefs and feelings and what others think of you.
So tell me...how is this not at least *bordering* on disordered thinking?
My advice to you would be the following:
1.) There is absolutely nothing wrong with toning your body and being healthy, so pursue that with gusto! Get professional advice on a good workout plan for you and take charge of your exercise and health in that regard.
2.) Start educating yourself about negative body image, body dysmorphia, and comparing yourself to others and look specifically for recommendations on how to grow out of that. There's a lot of good free stuff online and many good books. Find them, and read them, then implement them - asap, while you're young! Do NOT let this fester into your 20's and 30's. Believe me....you'll be so sorry if you do.
3.) Start thinking about the things you like about yourself. Start praising yourself for jobs well done, in any area of life. Think about your good qualities and tell yourself you're proud of you for being that way. Look at yourself in the mirror and find the things you like - your eyes, hair, toes - it doesn't matter! Tell yourself inside your head how beautiful those things are, and how beautiful YOU are. Remind yourself that YOU are the only YOU there is on this earth and that YOU have a purpose and YOU have a gift and YOU are like no one else - not your friends, not your family, etc. - and that this is a GOOD thing.Your friends look one way, and you look another way, and that diversity is what makes the world a wonderful place. YOU can only be YOU, and YOU can only improve YOU to be the best YOU that you can be. It doesn't matter what your friends look like or do with their lives. YOU must be your own advocate and friend, you must not be the person who beats yourself up for not being perfect. You gotta get rid of that girl. She's a bee-yotch anyway.
Positivity, not negativity.
Work on your insides first, then your outsides. That's the way to go.0 -
I would maintain your weight but lift heavily prior to your vacation.
It seems your weight is fine, but maybe you are looking for a more defined body.
Starting a weight lifting routine will help to recomp your body and lose body fat %0
