Hi, I am 36 years old and have 11 year old twins and 8 year old triplets. I'm looking to change the way I eat and get healthier. I'm looking for motivation and help with food ideas to keep the calories down. Please add me if you can help. Thanks.

What is your reason for wanting to lose weight? That is your motivation. I don't think people on here can motivate anyone. That's just me. My motivation was getting my blood sugar down to normal and getting off medication for it. I thinlk people on here have different motivations. Health, fitting into clothing, what ever it is, I think it has to come from within. Some stranger can't really motivate you. We can just tell you what has worked for us to get better.

I think that other people can motivate others! It depends on if you're extraverted or introverted. I'm a bit of both!

I am not sure if I can inspire you, but I can hopefully give you some tools and some examples!

For starters, I quit smoking. That was a big enough motivation for me to get fit and healthy! When I quit smoking I ate all the time to stop cravings and I put on a few pounds. When I shook the habit for good I needed a healthy outlet!

My boyfriend joined the Paramedic program at school and had to start taking fitness seriously. Although, I already went to the gym, I just did basic cardio and nothing special. Seeing him lift weights and tone up really motivated me to do the same! I don't want to just be skinny, I want to have definition and be strong and fit!

Perhaps a weird motivator for me is Pinterest. I know, so bad. I follow people who keep track of motivational sayings and weight goals and what not and it really helps me feel good and keep going! Also! They have TONS of really good, healthy, clean recipes on there to try out since you are looking for healthy recipes! Not just "healthy" but clean eating and paleo and wow, you name it they have it on there!

That's amazing you have twins AND triplets! Twins run in my family, I have twin siblings, cousins and second cousins! Hah! They should be a big motivator for you! Children become what they look up to --- be the fitness example you want them to have in their lives!! Do it for your beautiful children!!

I found a really good blog one day about clean eating, her basic rule was if it has more than 5 ingredients you don't know how to pronounce, find an alternative!

There are blogs, articles, youtubers, pinners, facebookers, so much more out there who specialize in this! Start googling girl and you will find what you are looking for!!

    Best of luck!! =)

I agree that your inspiration, the reason you want to do this, has to come from within, but motivation, that is meant to be shared! Encouragement and kudos for achievements can be great motivators. I have "met" so many supportive people on here. I have been able to give help as well, it is a great feeling! I started on my own just doing my own thing but I've since learned that there are good ways and better ways to get started. Check the link below for (in my opinion) the best way to get started and a wealth of information to help you.

I have it saved for reference and I use it often. I wish you all the best and thanks fro letting me share the journey.

Feel free to add me, my diary is open!

As for food, you don't need to be perfect. Just change what you're eating slightly. For example, if I am going to eat spaghetti, I add some carrots into my spaghetti sauce. Instead of eating a bagel with cream cheese, I eat half a bagel with a tablespoon of low fat cream cheese and add fruit in instead of the other half of the bagel. Instead of having chicken and potatoes, I have chicken, a little bit of potatoes, and a huge serving of a veggie I enjoy. If I'm craving a breakfast sandwich, I make one at home with a whole wheat english muffin, egg whites, and some turkey sausage. You don't need to completely get rid of everything you love - it's about decreasing the portions of the unhealthy things, substituting unhealthy options for healthier options, and adding in healthful foods. Logging everything you eat is the most important thing to keep yourself accountable and know how much you're actually eating. Even if it's five tortilla chips - log it! And if you can, buy a food scale and weigh everything you eat so that you're not eating more than you think you are. They're pretty cheap at walmart. You don't need a lavish one or anything.

Keeping your diary open and having friends on here is also helpful - it keeps you accountable for what you eat and it motivates you to do better.
Try to exercise when you can, even if it's small things. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. If you're going up to level 10, get off on level 8 and walk up the rest.

This is about a lifestyle change, not a quick yo yo fix. You want to sustain this healthy lifestyle and have it last for the rest of your life.

The fact that you're on here means you're invested at least somewhat in increasing your health. Congratulations on taking your first step toward a healthier lifestyle. :)
