Weight fluctuates daily. Don't weigh every day. Once a week is plenty often.0

I make the mistake of weighing myself daily too. Last week my friend made me some Albondiga soup ( Mexican meatball soup) I ate about 4 cups, roughtly 1000-1200 calories and I gained 3 pounds for 3 days!! I was so upset and disappointed at myself But I persevered. I ate clean again and continued working out and I lost the weight again Some foods just settle really heavy in your stomach or have ALOT of sodium! Once you digest what you ate you should be fine If you want to get rid of the water weight do some cardio or have a detox smoothie for a meal Good luck!!!0

Put your scale away and only take it out one day a week it is hard at first, but you can see results better when you don't weigh in every day. As I learned the hard way, if you eat out, take two days of lots of water to catch up before weighing in again.0

This post helped me feel better about my 2lb gain. I ate kinda crappy the last two days (I'm on my period) and told myself I wouldn't weigh myself until MAYBE next week but curiousity got to me and I stepped on the scale and it was 2 lbs heavier than Friday. I was a bit upset and logically I knew it was probably sodium or PMS induces but it was still upsetting. Read through this and I feel a lot better. ^_^ Definitely think I'll be waiting a week to step back on it. XD0

DONT WORRY! It isn't fat! It's probably just water or something dumb! The only way you gained fat is if you ate 7,000 calories OVER your calories needed to maintain your current weight.0

Getting on the scale every day leads to anxiety, depression, and feelings of a loss of self control. I wouldn't touch the scale no more than once per week. Additionally, if you are going to continue to get on the scale every day, you really need to do research on water retention, glycogen, cortisol, and how your body deals with these things. It will give you all of the answers so that you aren't jumping on that scale blind. The scale is an accessory, but not an indicator of where you are fitness or even weight wise. It is a snapshot for that moment in time as you are standing on it. An hour later it could be completely different. Remember that.
indeed.
I'm a nerd- I like my numbers and excel charts. I weigh myself AM and PM. it's okay if it isn't running your life.0 -
Don't be discouraged. It's most likely water weight. Hang in there! Don't be so hard on yourself. You can do it! Don't rely on the scale. Let the tape measure be your friend.0

Walked in the gym, hit the scale because it was next to the water. I normally ignore scales.
Spent 2 hours getting hot and sweaty lifting weights, and running 30 minutes.
Went to fill up my water bottle as I left, and jumped on the scale because why not?
I had gained 2lbs....might have something to do with me sucking down 64oz of water while I was there, and all my clothes and hair being wet.0 -
It's food and water weight, don't fret. You didn't eat enough to gain 2lbs. You would need to eat 7,000 calories over your maintenance to gain 2lbs.0

This happens to me every time I eat "bad" foods. Part is the and normal fluctuation added in the extra sodium and the other I think is some reaction to the heavy/ rich/ unusual foods.
Two weeks ago I eat out twice once was pizza (only 2 small slices and some fries) and the other was persian food (marinated meat and rice) and then snacked on chips (tortilla and potato), chocolate, and pretzels - all food I RARELY eat and BOOF I gained 3 pounds in 2 days and its taken me over a week to lose it all.
I'm glad I went back down, just in time for me to pig out again for the anticipated holiday meal/feasts lol :blushing:0 -
Agree with the group -- you gained 2 pounds of water overnight, NOT fat.
My former WW instructor said that if you have the compulsion to weigh yourself every day, go ahead -- but it is only the WEEKLY trend that is worth writing down. So if you are trending down week by week, you are fine.
My weight used to jump up like clockwork every 4 weeks due to hormones. I didn't panic. After awhile the patterns become obvious.
She also told me that some people take up to 2 weeks to see the results of their eating habits, as opposed to 1 week. It is certainly NOT reflected in just one day, unless you still have 2 lbs of cheesecake sitting in your stomach like a bowling ball. So don't look back just one night....look back about three weeks. Again it's the trend that matters.0
