This ^
I started last Monday, did Monday and forced myself to do Tuesday and could barely move the rest of the week. My abs STILL hurt yesterday!! And today as did it again last night...0 -
I finished all 30 days about 2 weeks ago. I did it 6 days a week. I noticed some strength and endurance improvement by the end of level 1, by mid level 2 I could see it in my shoulders, butt and thighs, by a few days into level 3 I could really see it in my abs and was much stronger. So at the end of it, I had stronger looking and feeling biceps, shoulders and thighs, my butt was lifted, and I have some ab definition.
It is SO WORTH finishing. If your'e like me you'll hate level 2 and want to quit but it makes you stronger to take on level 3, which was my favourite of the 3 levels. I'm doing TurboFire now, but swapping out the strength workouts in that for the 30DS level 3 workout as I like it better and feel it's a better challenge.0 -
I have done the 30 day shred DVD before and Have to say that you will start noticing changes to your body way before you stop doing the 30 days - I think for me it started at day 12 - 15 suddenly I started feeling much leaner and the clothes started to fit better. I have to do it again - I love it0

I want to start this again but oh her voice so so so sooooo annoying. No offense to her she is awesome.0

For those of you who have completed it, did you have to take a break for a day or two at first? I only got halfway through today, and I don't think I can do it tomorrow if I'm still this sore.0

The first few days, haha XD I could barely do jumping jacks when I started, and soon I was able to beat JM's speed. Anyway, for me my back had the most change. You will notice changes even before you finish it. Anyway, my overall fitness improved and I was glad that I completed it. It was a huge accomplishment for me.0 -
If you're feeling really sore, then take a day off, do some gentler exercise instead, so the muscles are still being used but not totally battered! You'll still see results, maybe not as quick as if you did it 30 days straight, but you'll be better off than doing yourself an injury!0

I started Monday too - My legs can barely carry me up the stairs at work today....hope the muscles loosen up by this evening, so I can go again:-)0 -
eek these reviews have made me nervous and excited about starting this!
I love Jillian0 -
make sure you to longer warm ups and cool down stretches, I combine several from her other videos.
start with small weights and increase them once you can do all the advanced moves (if you do the whole 30 days several times)
take your measurements alongside the scales, you will be building some muscle so might be smaller even if the scales show a gain or stayed the same.
drink lots of water (1 litre) afterwards.

Thanks everyone I am looking forward to starting this after easter (well looking forward to the results not the pain or soreness lol), although i dont have any weights I plan to use baked bean cans or bottles of water for now0

I started yesterday as well. I wanted to have at home option that was quick for days when I didn't want to or have time to go to the gym. I have been doing cardio/strength training since December, and as the day goes on my body feels very sore. My legs do not hurt, but I'm pretty sure that's because I just trained my legs on Thursday of last week, but my upper body and abs hurt like crazy! I'm not sure I will be able to do another workout tonight, I might just do steady state cardio tonight instead.0

30 DS was great! I hadn't exercised in a LONG time before I started! It was not easy. I also did not do it everyday. It varied from 2-5 days a week depending on my schedule and how I felt. It took me 7 weeks.....but I lost 10lbs (while watching my eating also) and inches....I just started Ripped in 30. Hang in there for those of you just starting. You will be really happy you did! Measure before too....sometimes it's the inches that go before the weight.0
-
I was barely sore today, and made it through the entire video with more energy than I did three days ago. I feel quite proud of myself0
-
Took me about 5 or 6 days to start feeling stronger and less exhausted each time. By the end of the 30 days, I lost about 10 pounds. Wasn't "shredded" by any means, but definitely was considerably stronger and each day, the workouts got easier.0

Oh gosh just done day 1 and it was a killer, i am actually shaking and feel sick its embarassing I am soooo unfit :-(
Dont even know if i can even make it upstairs for a shower lol
Also how do you log it in your excerise log as search and it didnt come up0 -
I'm on day 4 of level 1 today. My legs and abs are aching a little bit but not too bad. That said I have been doing some exercise previously. Not looking forward to level 2, I did it a couple of years ago and from what I remember didn't enjoy it as much as 1 and 30

To everyone above: you shouldn't be feeling that sore afterwards!
Jillian doesn't make you stretch for long enough afterwards. You need to do a longer cool-down and reaaaally push the stretches. If you do that, you won't feel sore. Seriously, if you don't stretch properly and carry on doing the work-out every day you're going to do yourself an injury.
In answer to the OP, my stomach started to look more defined after about day 6/7 - everything else took a LOT longer. It really depends on your diet as well. The full work-out burns roughly 1.6 calories X your weight in lbs, which is great for ~20 minutes of exercise but 160-320 calories can't balance out a bad diet.0 -
I didn't drop any weight doing it but lost a pants size. So worth it.0
-
Feel fine now after a shower also forgot that i didnt have breakfast so thats prob why i felt sick lol, will make sure I do extra cool down stretches when i do it tomorrow (hopefully can fit it in everyday)0

Hi guys, I've finally decided I'm going to start the 30 day shred DVD tomorrow. How does everyone log it on the exercise section of my fitness pal?
Thanks in advance x0 -
I have logged it as circut training general not sure if its the right way to do it though0
-
I started my MFP stint because of 30DS...
In the first 10 days I noticed results yes. I didn't take any time off tho either, and yes you will feel sore....but it does get easier...and you should feel sore if you aren't used to those exercises...
So my results based on Pics and tape measure, BF% and scale
1.5inches off chest
1 inch off under chest (bra band)
1/2 inch off my natural waist (bend)
1/2 inch of my waist at belly button
Day 20 vs day 10
1.25inches off chest
1 inche off bra band
1/2 inch off waist both areas
1/2 inch off hips
Day 30 vs Day 20
3/4inch off chest
1/2 inch off hips
1/2 inch off thigh
In total I lost 9 inches, 2.3% BF, and 3lbs...noticeable difference in my pics.
I was definately stronger and had more endurance.
I logged it as circut training as well.
I would have lost more weight if I had been using a food scale and logging accurately....:grumble:
2nd round of 30 DS
I lost another 4 inches in total
another 1% of my BF%
4.25lbs (was using a food scale)
I did the 2nd round until I could do all the exercises non modified and took weekends off...unlike 1st round took 3 days off...1 between each new set.0 -
I did Level 1 Day 1 on Monday this week. I was so sore yesterday that I walked yesterday evening instead of attempting 30DS (I thought the walk would loosen my muscles a bit...no joy there). Got home last night and after 1/2 hour of sitting down I could barely move. I had a long soak in the bath (could barely climb back out of the bath, lol) & now today I am still pretty sore & stiff.
I have to admit its been a long time since I did squats & lunges or any resistance workout at all. If I haven't exercised for a while & then join the gym - I would always be pretty sore a couple of days after the 1st session & then I would be ok after that.
I plan to do day 2 this evening or tomorrow & then hopefully after that I will be able to do it daily without being quite so stiff/sore. Bit annoyed that I've not been fit to do it for a day or so, but I certainly gave Jillian my all for the 20 minutes on Monday - I only did the simplified version of the press ups - everything else I did the harder ones.......right now I feel more 'broken' than 'shredded'
I did take measurements and pics too, so will re *kitten* those after I complete each level.0 -
I'm currently doing 30 DS and am on Day 28 today! I love it! This is the second time I've done it and so far have lost 3 pounds. I haven't done my measurements yet, but I know I've lost inches because I can feel it in my clothes. The first time I did 30 DS, I lost 3 or 4 pounds in the first 10 days and lost 3 inches, but I didn't exercise at all before that.
You will be sore!! If your body is not used to exercise, you are going to feel sore regardless of how long you stretch. I always do the cool down stretches as they show them. I notice a huge difference in my flexibility also.
I didn't take any rest days. Even when I was sore, I pushed myself through it. I knew I wasn't injured, I was just grossly out of shape so I figured taking a break isn't going to do anything except give me another excuse not to work out. Day 3 and 4 were the worst for muscle soreness for me, but I found pushing myself through the workouts helped with that. On those days, I went on my elliptical for about 10-15 minutes prior to the shred to help loosen up my muscles and that seemed to help.
Before you start, weigh yourself, take your measurements, and take pictures (even if you only use them for yourself). Stick with it and you will not be disappointed. The key is to push yourself! When you're able to do the easy moves, push yourself to move up to the advanced moves. You may not be able to do the advanced version for the full minute, but go as long as you can before going back to the easy moves. Stick by what Jillian says and only take a 5 second break and then carry on. You may only go for another 15 seconds before you need to stop again, but do it anyway. Also, don't be scared to up the size of your handweights. You won't improve if you don't push!
Good luck!0
