Going out to dinner tonight with my husband - 856 calories left for the day - I'd love to have a drink with dinner. Any suggestions on what to drink and eat?

An average enchilada has about 300 calories. So if you get multiple ones they can take up your calorie totals pretty fast. Id say an average Mexican entrée with rice and refried beans has around 1100-1350 calories.0

fajitas and just eat the meat and vegetables and order a beer
But me personally I'd either skip the drink part and get enchiladas or have a tiny margarita and one enchilada a la carte.0 -
Sangria!! Wine and fruit = yummy and not terrible for you (or I like to think so). Or if you don't mind using a lot calories, a pina coloda is always yum.
Can't help with food because I don't like Mexican food.0 -

Fajitas minus the tortillas and maybe some wine or a beer.
I'm a fat kid and love my tortillas and sopa's....soooo.....I'd plan on one hell of a work out!0 -
Wine isn't too Mexican of a choice but it is often calorie modest relative to a margarita. 20 cals per ounce I believe. On top of that something modest but enjoyable to eat. I would go for a bowl of green chili but that is me. Run a 5K and open up another 500+ before hand so you have more flexibility.0

Chicken tortilla soup and margarita on the rocks!!0

I'm going out tomorrow to a Mexican restaurant and I was playing around with calories on here. A cheese enchilada combination plate is around 700 calories-- and so, so delicious, I'm not so sure how accurate that is though-- depends on the place I'm sure. Or you could maybe get whatever you want and only eat half and save the other half for the next day. You could probably add a light corona in there too if you drink beer. We eat a lot of Mexican because there is an amazing place a few blocks from my place (yikes).. I try really hard to get in extra exercise before I go there so I don't feel so guilty.0

LOVE mex food ! It's the tortillas ( & chips ) that add up the cals quickly. Opt for protein and veg. Fajitas without the tortillas = a big plate of FOOD. Carne Asada. Carnitas. Camarones. Grilled Veg. Beans. Build your meal around THAT. I always want some chips so I choose some chips & salsa over a tortilla which is essentially a "holder" for the meat & veg.
ENJOY!0 -
It's one meal, one night. Enjoy yourself.0

Taco or enchilada or order your favorite and eat half with a glass of wine or beer (Corona Light??).0

I usually have a naked burrito from mad mex, about 480 calories. On their website they have a recepie builder for working out the calories. You could play around with that. This would leave room for my best LoW cal drink option, vodka fresh lime and soda, very refreshing with Mexican food about 70 cals a serve.0

do they put chips on the table?
if they do, youd better get some queso to go with them.
start with a shot of something 'decent'...maybe some hornitos silver?
time to order!
fried chimichangas...opt for the shredded beef...theyre devine.
it should come with rice and beans, so thats good.
think about adding guac and sour cream....you dont think you want it now, but youll be glad when its there.
im a sucker for jalepenos, so maybe a side of them to toss on your 'changas.
time for another shot!
theres always room for churros....or sopapillas. split that with someone.
one more shot, pay the bill, hit the road.0 -
If you've been good with your calories and progress, go ahead and enjoy yourself. One night isn't going to hurt anything. Just get back at it tomorrow.
If you really want to watch your intake though, get chicken instead of beef and don't get sour cream.0 -
Skinny margarita! That is what we order now...usually is under 200 calories vs a regular margarita that can be 400-500.
I have done tacos in corn tortillas or fajitas without the tortillas....you can maybe even do any sort of stuffed peppers and jsut limit the rice?0 -
This is how I handle going out for Tex-Mex:
The first rule is never even try to eat Mexican food east of the Mississippi or north of the Red River. It's just an exercise in frustration. Keeping this in mind, you will be able to have a nice meal by following these principles:
Make a choice to have tortillas or rice, not both
Skip the chips and have soft corn tortillas instead, that cuts down on the fat.
Avoid tamales and skip the queso.
Go for it with the guacamole and salsa. And bring on the jalapenos!
Most Tex-Mex places have a dish called pechuga - chicken breast.. Carne Asada is a good choice
Ask for black beans or ranchero beans, avoid the refried beans
Order a skinny margarita, made with lime juice and sweetener instead of a syrup
Share dessert - Wife and I always share dessert.0 -
2 shots of Cazadores reposado tequila + 1 Dos Equis amber.
2 carne asada street tacos - get some guac on the side - use one bottom tortilla from a taco for dipping in the guac.
a small pile of pickled jalapenos, radishes, carrots.
If not a tequila fan, sub another beer or an extra taco. Depending on how the tacos are done, you might add some black beans.0 -
I'm going to try to make good decisions but I can't promise anything!0

Cheese enchilada, rice, beans (can usually find that combo in a kid's meal), and a beer or two. Skip the chips and salsa.0

46.5lbs of kale0

I don't drink, but if I did, I'd have a margarita, steak fajitas, and exactly 10 chips (approx 140 cals) and not count the salsa!0
-
Skinny margarita and maybe steak or shrimp fajitas? DELISH!0
