Why does everyone lose so fast?

This is not meant to be a negative post towards anyone, but just something that really frustrates me. I have *never* been able to lose more than 1-2 pounds per month. The three times in my life where I've had to seriously lose weight (this is the 3rd one), I have always seen such a slow progress. This time I am definitely doing it the healthy way though, and it's going faster than the other times, but even when I was at 170 (goal weight 145, so it wasn't just a couple of pounds) I did not lose at a fast rate. Thankfully it stays steady, but it just makes it hard. I see everyone posting their 4 pounds per week, even when they don't have that much to lose they can still cut out junk food and lose it all in less than 6 months. It has taken me 5 months to lose 10
I just need some motivation because, I love what I'm doing, but this eternal phase of losing weight just takes a huge toll on me.

25 pounds isn't that much. That's why you can't lose faster. You're closer to your goal weight than somebody who has, say, 100 pounds to lose.
Keep going. You're making awesome progress.0 -
I lose 1-2 pounds a month. I am okay with it. I like to eat all the foodz!0

The only person that you should ever compete against is you. Someone will always be prettier, stronger, faster, thinner, lose weight easier, dance better, juggle better whatever! You just gotta do you. I never lost more than a pound a week, and now its a LOT slower than that. Slow is good! It helps you maintain your muscle mass as you lose. Take a week off of logging every couple of weeks if you need it for your sanity.
It's not always easy taking this advice I know. I have to B**** slap my green devil occasionally when people post their lifting numbers.
ETA: Your diary isn't open, but if you are weighing every bite you eat on a digital scale, logging religiously, and know that you are at a bigger deficit than your weight loss indicates, then maybe you should see a Dr. It is unlikely, but there may be a thyroid or hormone issue.0 -
I know it is frustrating. It took me 2 1/2 years to lose 60 pounds. I gained 20 back and have gained and lost the same 3 pounds over the last three months, so I feel your pain! All I can say is because I workout a lot I have to eat more to keep my strength up while working out, it takes longer but it's worth it because my shape is pretty decent because of the working out. It's a struggle, but if it was easy, everyone would be a healthy weight, right?0

Yeah that's the problem, I don't eat all the food XD I am being very dedicated to my diet and my workouts. I even changed my "cheat meals" and I don't binge, I just eat what I really really like but in amounts that are not gigantic. And I just have one once every 2 weeks if anything.Your diary isn't open, but if you are weighing every bite you eat on a digital scale, logging religiously, and know that you are at a bigger deficit than your weight loss indicates, then maybe you should see a Dr. It is unlikely, but there may be a thyroid or hormone issue.
I did think about that, but I got tested and my hormones/thyroid look fine. And yes I am logging/measuring everything, just not here. But it did make me happy to know it wasn't a condition or anything like that0 -
Honestly your rate is pretty well on par with mine. Actually you are losing FASTER. I have been trying to lose 10 lbs from 150 to 140 since December of last year, so far I have managed less than half.
My issue is that I do great all week and then manage to completely erase most of my deficit over the weekend. I didn't even realize that I was doing it until I looked very closely at my spreadsheet. I am supposed to be eating 1700, but over the past 2 weeks my average is 1837 - I am still in a deficit, but it's MUCH smaller than it could be and thus I am slow like a turtle
I yearn for the days of big losses when I still had 70+ lbs to lose but i sure don't yearn to be 70lbs overweight again!0 -
I'm making progress at about the same rate. I figure it's better to do it slow than do it twice.
Are you taking other measurements? You might be losing inches without losing pounds.0 -
I feel your pain!!! While I'm closer to my goal weight (I'm sure I'll want to loose more but at this rate, my goal weight is taking forever!!!!!!) it's taking a long time. 6 months and about 5 lbs lost. Frustrating. If I were 120 lbs I would be ok at loosing slow, but I could and need to lose 20, but the next 10 have been challenging...
Just keep at it!0 -
Are you weighing your food? Measuring everything? Do you taste while cooking? Do you ever have a snack or a handful of raisins or nuts here and there, and not log it? All that can add enough fringe calories, and slow down weight loss.0

First of all consider yourself lucky. The slower you lose the weight, the more likely it will stay off.
Secondly, you only have 20 lbs. total to lose, so 1-2 pounds a month sounds good to me. What's the rush?0
