One of the key points to weight loss, is fitness. If you focus on Fitness, Weight loss will come naturally. (providing your nutrition is in order)
You are much more likely to rebound and re gain if you try to lose fat without doing it with physical fitness. Now granted there are some who have physical limitations and so that may not be always possible. but if it is possible. Keep up the fitness, get a fitness plan together and challenge the body so you don't plateau!
The old saying abs are made in the kitchen still holds true. Nutrition goes hand in hand with proper working out. When your trying to lose fat, keep a 60/30/10% ratio. 60% protein, 30% carbs (From proper whole grains, fruits, veggies) and 10% good fats.
If you are doing high intensity cardio then you can play with those numbers and raise the carbs some so you dont Bonk during your workout sessions.

you are completely contradicting yourself here. Weight loss and fitness are two different things. It's completely possible to lose weight without working out at all. Adding in exercise will certainly help, especially to prevent loss of lean muscle mass, but that is possible with the right balance of macros, as you point out yourself.
Whether you are doing cardio or strength training, you can adjust your macro numbers, because any form of exercise will change your macro needs.0 -

No...if you do exercise to lose chances are something always happens and it can't be done..but if it isn't a corner stone exercise or no exercise will not cause a rebound...only eating in a calorie surplus willNow granted there are some who have physical limitations and so that may not be always possible. but if it is possible. Not necessarily.
What's the starting point? If your starting point is morbidly obese, doing HIIT or tabata training isn't even on the radar. Sometimes walking long distances can be quite challenging. Making small consistent changes in the diet is far less intimidating. It's manageable.
My experience has been that fitness followed weight loss. I lost a bunch of weight by keeping track of my calories. I slowly added in exercise over the course of a year. As I lost weight and became stronger I adapted my routine. I met my 12 month goal and a funny thing happed - I no longer cared about what I weighed. I changed my goals from a specific body weight to improving my fitness level.
I think the focus should be on your goals. Do whatever it take to meet those goals.0 -

I basically agree with this other than to say that 10% of your macros as fat seems very, VERY low considering that fat isn't some evil thing you need to avoid at all costs, it is part of a healthy diet and I think you'd want more than 10% of your calories coming from it. For a 2000 calorie diet that would be 200 calories which would only be 22g of fat. That is not very much at all. You'd get that from a handful of almonds.0 -
While you can obtain weight loss without fitness, the point is that unless you have a serious physical limitation, why would you?
Achieving weight loss via fitness is going to give you the overall best benefit to your body, to you mental health. Vs someone who is just trying to lose weight, without actually getting it through fitness. Fitness is going to help you regulate blood flow, increase your immunity, reduce the risk of diabetes and other dangerous diseases, strengthen your muscle groups, make you less prone to injury in day to day physically active duties. The list continues.
So why would i say if you want weight less , always try to get it through fitness? Because its the best way for your body. Physically and Mentally you will benefit. and i want you to have the entire benefit, the entire package.0
