Hi you guys! Im not new to MFP... But I've been MIA for a while, life got hectic. Anyway, Today I start lifting, with a trainer! Im doing a 3x a week hr long lifting sessions with her, to learn more about the lifting liftstyle (correctly). It would be cool to have more mfp female friend who lift and I can chitchat with!
Im active, young, female, short, enthusiastic, hate running, love swimming, live in the cold northern Alaska state, beautifully tan Hawaii chick. Ove the past year ive don't the cardio lifestyle, and lifting on my own. Im excited to start to learn how to realy gain muscle, lose fat, by lifting.
Any who, lets talk about this crazy life!

Just started lifting myself! Had a session with a trainer last night to figure out my starting work weight, form and routine. I also am just finishing up reading "New rules of lifting for women" great book, highly recommend it!
Would love more lifting friends!0 -
Strength training is a priority on my list right now. I was previously a competitive distance runner, but even then I strength trained 2-3 days a week. I am in a new phase of training so I do circuit training and strength programs ranging 3-5 days a week and run 3 days. There are so many options that it helps keep me injury free, motivated and a positive state of mind.
I was a personal trainer years ago and form was crucial. I've also taken seminar on Olympic lifting and proper form for body weight exercises these past 6 months.0 -
Sure! I've been doing Stronglifts since last October but I still sometimes struggle with it because there's no certified weightlifting trainer at my gym.0

Hi! Great to hear another female is getting into weight training. I've lifted weights on and off over the years and most recently have been at it about 6 months. Just found new rules of lifting for women (there's a group here for it, too) and am starting with stage 1. Feel free to friend me - psyched to convert some fat to muscle!0

Feel free to add me too! I started strength training in August, but had to slow up in the winter. I'm lifting now again 2-3x / week doing Stronglifts.0

Feel free to add me. I competed in Olympic Powerliftng in the late 90's then switched over to bodybuilding but have taken the last year off from lifting and am now getting back into it. I love it, I should have never stopped but muscle has memory and I'm counting on that! LOL0

Feel free to add me. I'm trying to loose weight but really enjoy lifting weights. My bf is always after me to use lighter weights and more reps, but I really love the heavy stuff. I try to have a balance. I love being strong. To hell with being wimpy. lol.0

So excited to find this thread!
I just started lifting two and a half weeks ago and I'm looking for some motivation from others who lift too. I finally realized that I was never going to look like I want with diet and cardio and that strength training was the key.
I enjoy the friends I have on MFP but sometimes their food diary makes me cringe (no breakfast, fast food, donuts for lunch, ugh). I certainly am not perfect, but I'm looking for friends who are more like me. I am a hypocrite, my diary is private but I like looking at other people's diaries!
I'm going to add all of you and feel free to add me if you see this after I post.0 -
Anyone can add me if they'd like! I'm 23, vegetarian, been lifting for 4/5 months now, currently working on NROL4W.0

Hey everyone! 28, have a 9 month old. Was overweight before I got pregnant and actually lost weight during my pregnancy but baby came out healthy. Unfortunately I slowly started to gain the weight back again. A friend told me to start doing heavy weights and short reps. My faves:
Deadlifts: Currently at 65 lbs
Clean and press: Currently at 65 lbs
Squats: own body weight, but I want to start adding weight.
I was told if I built muscle first, then I could "shred" and do nothing but cardio and would get the results I wanted...lets see how it goes! Good luck all!0
