exercises for back/side fat and hip fat?

Options
Anyone have anything that worked for them? I have a lot of side fat in my bust area and fat towards the back part of my hip area that I would like to start working on.

I do yoga and it really has helped with the "love handles". You can google yoga for back/ side area. It does work pretty quickly if you stick with it.

Unfortunately you can't "spot reduce" fat - there are no exercises you can do to target the removal of fat from any one area of your body. Where you lose fat is largely dependent on your genes - people lose fat first and last from different areas of their body. All you can do is reduce body fat, period, by eating at a sensible deficit and being patient :)

If your goals and your ticker are accurate and up to date then it's too early to start worrying about individual specific areas. As you lose you will lose from everywhere. You can't choose from where you will lose fat in what order but just consistently being at a caloric deficit will have you losing fat.

keep losing weight and get in the gym. total body workouts, lift weights, and do it NOW! fat will get lost all over but the exercise is paramount, especially for what you are asking.

    this, plus the above advice.

...and add patience to the equation.

I started belly dancing for weight loss ( its so much fun, there's GREAT videos online that you can buy or just some freebie at home ones on you tube) The dances really focus on the lower ab, obliques, lower back muscle ( for lower body movements. That combined with maintaining the home position alone has given thighs of steel ( Not to mention a rock hard bum :P ) My waist pulled in several inches once the obliques were toned.

You can target certain areas for toning--That is, you can improve muscle tone by specific areas, but you can't reduce fat by toning those muscles. It does not hurt, however, to start toning those muscles while you are eating at a deficit to lose the fat. Then, when the muscles are uncovered, you'll look amazing.

As mentioned, exercising any body part to spot reduce fat won't work. If it did, then a tennis player or bowler should have a ripped dominant arm and a fat one. Have NEVER seen it.

    Nope.

In physiology, medicine, and anatomy, muscle tone (residual muscle tension or tonus) is the continuous and passive partial contraction of the muscles, or the muscle's resistance to passive stretch during resting state. It helps to maintain posture and declines during REM sleep.

It's not anything that's affected by exercise.

What most people call "muscle tone" is really just definition, and it is achieved by lowering body fat, nothing more.

If you're eating at a surplus, you can do progressive load strength training to increase the mass of your muscles, but of course, you will also be adding fat too. Then you can eat at a deficit to take of more of the fat, while continuing the progressive strength training to help maintain the added muscle mass.

In another thread you posted that you had set your calories to 1200.
If this is true, this is a large gap between your maintenance and what might be a reasonable cut. So be careful that your loss isn't self sabotaged if it becomes too difficult or by the effects of too large a cut.

I suggest you read the following threads - they will be very helpful:

I agree - the weight will come off where it wants.

Please read the threads above as well.

Congrats on your loss so far :drinker:
