I just bought mine last night as well! I'm excited to start using it and I think it will be very benefical! I was also WAY overestimating my meat... like I was eating basically double what I was tracking!

It's an eye opener for sure. A wise investment :flowerforyou:
  • I just picked one up on Monday. I too, have a difficult time with the hungry eye. I am hoping it will help jump start more weight loss with the accuracy of my food intake.
  • Question: When should you weigh your protein, before or after it is cooked?

Yes! I can't tell you how patient my hubby has been at meal time because I weigh Every. Single. Thing.

I have been using a food scale every day since I started using MFP in January 2014. So far, I have lost 31 lbs. One of the best investments I have ever made!

    Before

Actually, it depends on whether the entry you're using is for raw protein or cooked protein. Most food items have an entry for each so you can use whatever you prefer; if you can only find it one way or the other then measure at that point.

Anyway - I use my scale ALL the time. Just about the only thing I don't weigh at this point (besides the odd restaurant meal) are non-starchy vegetables - I figure even if I'm eating twice as much as I'm logging the calorie difference is going to be, what, 20-30 max? Not a biggie in my mind. I'm not a huge PB eater so that one didn't bother me, and actually I'm pretty darn good at eyeballing at this point (I still weigh, but if I want, say, 120 grams of chicken, it's rare I'm off by more than 10-15 grams on the first shot), but sour cream STILL gets me. All those pre-food-scale times I logged "2 tablespoons" (aka 30 grams)....welllllll.....try 4 or 5 at least, haha.
