Getting Ready to Start Lifting

Not going to go to the gym, bought weights and a bench and going to do it at home. I have the weights (up to 110 lbs. to start) and I waiting for the bench to arrive probably early next week, it was shipped 2 days ago. Once it gets here we will have to get everything set up, my husband wants to try it too (if he likes it I will have to get more weights to add on pretty fast).
So, I am thinking a workout like this would be good?
http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/the-beginner-weight-training-workout-routine/
Then I found some how to videos here:
http://stronglifts.com/5x5/
And more useful information here:
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/bbinfo.php?page=Over40
I am sure there are tons of youtube videos so I will peruse tomorrow since I have the day off.
If anybody has any newbie weight lifting knowledge they would like to share, I am all eyes.

I'm excited for you! Best decision.
Go slow at first, and just get used to good form.
I used Body For Life for years and New Rules Of Lifting For Women lately. It's all in there.
Doing a bulk after cutting will give you the body of a teenager if you get it right. There's a group here, Women who Bulk.
Enjoy!0 -

I still do some cardio here and there, but doing high intensity for 2 years wore me out, gave me a hiatal hernia (at least played a big role in it, you can't say things like jumping rope can't contribute) and I just never got the results I felt I deserved for all my hard work. I just know that won't be the case with lifting, this really goes more with my body type (I have always been on the strong and muscular side) and I am really excited to get started.0 -

I do StrongLifts 5x5. Here's a link to a great summary of the program: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/560459-stronglifts-5x5-summary. The link is on the SL for Women's group, so check out the rest of the threads, if you're interested. There's lots of good information.0
