Going to Music Festival.. tips?

Im going to be going to Stagecoach country music festival next weekend (cue: happy dance).. BUT i have finally started seeing results and i don't want them to go down the drain. Im going to be gone for 5 days, thurs to monday.. the actual festival is fri-sun. i doubt that i will have chance to exercise besides walking around the festival… my plan is to try and stay lower carb on my foods since i will be drinking and there will def be some bbq options to eat there…

Any one else going? Or been in a similar situation? Tips? Advice?

Dance, dance, dance!! You'll burn off those bbq calories! Have fun, be mindful of what you eat, and yeah, don't eat the brown acid.

dance the calories away, drink lots of water, bring some fruit and some sort of granola or protein bar. Enjoy whatever food you want, just in moderate amounts. I always come back from festivals weighing a lot less. All the dancing/ walking/ sweating, I think.

I would probably just eat at maintenance for those days, figure out what maintenance is or just switch your goals to "maintain current weight" and log. It will feel like a splurge but really you are just holding, and I think logging as best you can would be helpful, so you don't stress too much-really, as long as you don't go over maintenance by 3500 cals you didn't gain a pound of fat!

Skip Keller Williams unless it is a Keller Williams Incident. Molly isn't a member of the Brat Pack. Backtrack to Keller Incident...only go to that if you have found Molly.

    And JD McPherson is fun
Holly Williams is Hank Jr's daughter and very good
    Ashley Monroe is great
    Niki Bluhm is fun
    LOVE Sarah Jarosz
    Shovels and Rope kick *kitten*
Willie Watson is great (was in Old Crow Medicine Show)
    Trampled by Turtles
    Wanda Jackson

    really fun lineup

You're going to do tons of walking, standing, dancing, general foolishness. EAT and HYDRATE and worry about everything else when you get back. Have a good time!

Fellow festie here :) Excited for your upcoming weekend!

If it's a camping festival, no brainer -- just pack lots of good food! In the past, I've had difficult ice situations and try to bring mostly foods that are okay without being chilled. Even if it's not a camping festival, here's some snacks you could think about bringing to stock in the hotel room or bring into the fest if they allow food.

    Fruits/Vegetables
    oranges, apples, pears, grapes, bananas
    canned or dried

    Protein
canned/pouch tuna, chicken (I think they even sell "kits" with mayo packets and crackers?!)
    peanut butter
    jerky
baby bel cheeses (the ones in the wax -- don't have to be refrigerated)

(I'm skipping the easy/obvious carbs like granola bars or whatever :p)
  • Awesome!! Thank you!

I've been to over 200 concerts in my life. This was a struggle for me too!

    Food Wise:
I use to keep stuff in the car or in my pockets for snacks.
Cut your festival portions in half. The serving sizes are crazy (so are the prices) so my husband and I would split meals.
Lemonade is your friend. If you find a booth that hand squeezes it, you can put in your own sugar.
Eat at maintenance as stated before.
Depending on what kind of festival it is, you can sometimes find healthy options.

    Festival Wise
Check the weather and dress accordingly. I rarely hear of music festivals being rained out.
Don't wear anything you mind getting damaged. I doubt at a country music festival you would encounter this. But I've had my shirt ripped off and have been in the middle of a mud fight.

Don't forget to have fun. =)
