Weight Gain After Surgery

Hello,
I just wanted to get some insight on others who have gained weight after having major surgery. I had a hysterectomy Dec 10th, and have put 17 lbs on since then. Also lost one of our daughters on Dec 23rd, and another got married in Jan. Life has been crazy to say the least. I was working out 5 days a week before then, I haven't done anything since surgery. I am back at it now but am so discouraged, and really trying not to be. At the beginning of my weight loss journey about 5 years ago I was 224 lbs, went down to 168, weight as of yesterday 186 Just looking for some support and encouraging words that I am not alone out here

Hang in there. It's so much easier to say than to do it. In my life I've been tossed some good days and some bad days, and sometimes the bad days just take more days to heal. My sympathy to you for the loss of your child, I can not imagine that. I find the best way to keep moving and finally return to some acceptable version of living a normal existence requires the passage of more time, and taking small steps.
You have a lot going for you. First, you know you have an issue to deal with, the weight gain, and you have a target in mind, and you have the means to get there (exercise). What you lack is the ability to convince yourself to get started,. Let me tell you that you are not alone. I bet we're all in that same spot at one time or another.
Try to start out slowly..maybe just Mon Wed Fri, don't overdo it, and just try to get used to slowly getting back into your normal old groove. If it takes you 6 months to work back up to 5 days a week, let it, and don't worry about it. I'm guessing you're not really over eating, you're probably just under burning. So work on the exercise stuff first....food intake later.
The alleged experts say that just a smidge of exercise cause all kinds of good chemical reactions in our brain that help influence our moods, and the positive way we think. Sometimes when we get knocked down we just jump right up and go again...other times the knock down is more difficult to recover from and we just need to recover a bit more slowly.
You can do it, you did it before, and you can do it again....

Thank you so much, exactly what I needed to hear, sometimes well all the time I think we are so hard on ourselves not giving ourselves the extra care we need, I am always pushing myself and need to relax.0
