Do the dads get to celebrate Father's day if their wife is pregnant?

I know I got my wife something when she was preggers for Mother's day.. I think my wife got me something for Father's day too!

I was going to say no, but after reading some of these rationalizations, I'm going to change my mind. You are definitely a Mother, but don't expect a Mother's Day card or Breakfast in bed from your child.

If you ever want a chance of knocking her up again I would get her a card and make some breakfast in bed...

Here's a hint. Make bacon and eat some for yourself before serving. Everyone wins that way

Depends on how your visit to Maury Povich turns out.

I have never experienced this, but I've known several women who had miscarriages. The pain they felt from their losses said they were already mothers.

I think expectant fathers count as fathers on Father's Day, too!

You might want to run that by the "Right to Lifers".

I was out and about on Mother's Day when I was preggo with my first child. Everyone treated me like the rest of the mothers who already could carry their babies in their arms.

It was unexpected, but rather delightful.

Um, I may have gotten a card for that before.....

(again not that I expected it but I'll take a funny card and chocolate for any reason).

I mean, techincally yes, you are already a mother-to-be. But I know when I was pregnant with my 1st and it was Mother's Day, I was not concerned with being told "Happy Mother's Day!" by my husband or anyone else. Possibly because it was also my birthday. Just like it will be this year too.

yes and i would be shocked and amazed if anyone answered no on this post

So I'll bring up the topic...

If a pregnant woman is universally considered a mother, how come so many people don't consider the thing she's a mother of to be a human being?

    [Incoming train wreck]

You know... I kind of thought the OP was passively-aggressively trolling and I just KNEW someone would, at some point, bring this up and thus derail the thread.

I sorta figured that's where the OP was going with it, and was surprised it hadn't come up. So I figured I'd help it along.

    It's actually an interesting question.

I don't think you're a mother yet. Enjoy the sweet, sweet freedom you have now and celebrate being a slave to another once it happens, ok?

it's a child if she wants it, it's "her body, she can do with it what she likes" if not...

can we not get past this?
