Well, the Ice Cream Stands are starting to open around here. I had a small chocolate, came home and entered it into search. YIPES. 400 whopping calories. Anyone found a tasty substitute for chocolate soft serve?

Today I was looking at Fudgsicles at the grocery store. Those are pretty good and low calorie. The only reason I didn't buy any was the large size of the box, too big for our small freezer.0

Of course it's all dependent on the size, but even a medium chocolate soft serve cone from Dairy Queen is only 240 calories. Not sure your number is right.0

Meant to add, I find it hard to judge how much ice cream is in a cone. I bet there is more than I estimate.0

I like the chocolate frozen yogurt. It is super yummy and low in calories. The only thing that sucks is a half cup is really not much at all. So I end up eating like 3-4 servings. LOL0

I just remember Wally mart used to have Funny Bunny? fudge sickles that were really good.0

I had chocolate sorbetto from Red Mango a couple of days ago and it was decadently rich and amazing delicious!
And only 15 calories an ounce!
I highly recommend it.0 -
Hmmm. I just searched that again and this time I got 200 calories for 1/2 cup of Dairy Queen Chocolate. Not as bad, but I could eat that much in 2 seconds.0

My "treats" are Skinny Cow Truffle bar 100 calories or Kroger Lowfat Rainbow Sherbet 120 cal per 1/2 cup.0

Refrigerated, fat-free, sugar-free chocolate pudding is the closest I found.0

There is nothing quite like soft serve ice cream.
Try Breyers no sugar added.....only 80 cals for 1/2 cup.0 -
I've found that Mr. Softee soft serve ice cream isn't actually too bad. It's about 170 calories... then again, it's all chemicals.0

You mean Blue Bunny? Not that I know my ice creams or anything.0 -
Nope will not substitute the other lower cal stuff tastes horrible. have tried Dole whip/yogurt/Only 1 Calorie---ugg.
I go out for ice cream about 1/2 dozen times a summer. I will have a small cone each time worth every single calorie. Everything in moderation.
Can't wait until my next one!0 -
We do the Nestle Lil' Drums at our house. 130 calories per cone and in a convenient size.0

ETA: I have a chocolate ice cream sandwich every every day! :happy:0 -
Skinny Cow ice cream isn't bad. Personally, I don't bother substituting anymore because it's more difficult for me to lose weight that way.0

or you can still have the soft serve every once in a while and just plan your day around it….0 -

If it doesn't "have" to be soft serve, Edy's slow churned is pretty low calorie. I have the peanut butter cup here at work, and it's 130 calories of deliciousness. Even some of the store brand lighter versions are good, you just have to shop around and try different things, but that's of course regular ice cream and not soft serve. Also, if you'd like some ideas, go here. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1248684-30-day-gelato-ice-cream-cleanse-diet0

I like to mix a low fat cottage cheese in a blender with a frozen banana and a scoop or 2 of protein powder of your choice. Tastes good and calories you can be happy with. The cottage cheese gives it a creamy consistency with just enough salt, not too much. Banana gives it a sweet flavor.0

I love soft serve. Last summer I had 2 treats planned into my day that were about equal calories, one of which was a soft serve cone. If we didn't have it, I would have the other one. (planned to have one, not both!!)0

Probably not what you'd expect, but in the summer I adore Decadent Chocolate Milkshake made by Trutein protein powder. Mix a scoop with 5oz of milk & ice cubes, add 2 T of Hershey cocoa, & a li'l bit of sweetener (doesn't take much). Whiz it up loudly in your processor (I use a Vitamix), & its just mouth watering scrumptious.
Very refreshing, delicious, and guilt-free.
(eta: it will give you that brain freeze we all luv, lol)0
