Well, the Ice Cream Stands are starting to open around here. I had a small chocolate, came home and entered it into search. YIPES. 400 whopping calories. Anyone found a tasty substitute for chocolate soft serve?

    Today I was looking at Fudgsicles at the grocery store. Those are pretty good and low calorie. The only reason I didn't buy any was the large size of the box, too big for our small freezer.

    Of course it's all dependent on the size, but even a medium chocolate soft serve cone from Dairy Queen is only 240 calories. Not sure your number is right.

    Meant to add, I find it hard to judge how much ice cream is in a cone. I bet there is more than I estimate.

    I like the chocolate frozen yogurt. It is super yummy and low in calories. The only thing that sucks is a half cup is really not much at all. So I end up eating like 3-4 servings. LOL

    I just remember Wally mart used to have Funny Bunny? fudge sickles that were really good.

    I had chocolate sorbetto from Red Mango a couple of days ago and it was decadently rich and amazing delicious!
    And only 15 calories an ounce!
    I highly recommend it.

    Hmmm. I just searched that again and this time I got 200 calories for 1/2 cup of Dairy Queen Chocolate. Not as bad, but I could eat that much in 2 seconds.

    nice...I read the topic and now I want some vanilla soft serve.....who cares about the calories, just walk it off and enjoy.

    My "treats" are Skinny Cow Truffle bar 100 calories or Kroger Lowfat Rainbow Sherbet 120 cal per 1/2 cup.

    There is nothing quite like soft serve ice cream.


    Try Breyers no sugar added.....only 80 cals for 1/2 cup.

    I've found that Mr. Softee soft serve ice cream isn't actually too bad. It's about 170 calories... then again, it's all chemicals.

    Nope will not substitute the other lower cal stuff tastes horrible. have tried Dole whip/yogurt/Only 1 Calorie---ugg.
    I go out for ice cream about 1/2 dozen times a summer. I will have a small cone each time worth every single calorie. Everything in moderation.

    Can't wait until my next one!

    We do the Nestle Lil' Drums at our house. 130 calories per cone and in a convenient size.

    Skinny Cow ice cream isn't bad. Personally, I don't bother substituting anymore because it's more difficult for me to lose weight that way.
