I reached my goal today of 13 lbs lost...Yay me...when I started on MFP My goal was to get from 148 lbs to 135lbs and I hit that mark today...but now would like to lose 5 more. Anyways for some reason I lost my willpower and ate Hershey s chocolates not just a few...the entire bag :-( now I feel awful not only do I feel guilty I also feel like crap from the chocolate! But I know tomorrow is a new day and a fresh start once again...just wish I didn't do that...even my teeth feel awful...has anyone else had this similar situation?

Yep. I think it's pretty common actually. I see it a lot in our motivation groups and it's usually because people try to rush the progress and do it in a way that isn't sustainable. My biggest pet peeve are the chicken and broccoli all day everyday people. You can't sustain that for life and they hit a goal and fall right back off the wagon.
What's great is that you recognize that you took a step back and you aren't happy about it. Plus, it sounds like you've picked yourself up and dusted yourself off and are ready to get back to it. That is what separates you from a ton of people. Best of luck with your fitness goals. Larry0 -
Yay you is right !!
Congrats on reaching your goal.
One day doesn't change anything--you know what works, and I agree with what others have said--make it sustainable long term, make it a lifestyle change, and the (chocolate/vacation/birthdayparty/drinks/whatever) become the exception instead of the rule...
You'll be great!0 -
1 step back to go 2 steps forward.. Its just a day sometimes to keep my sanity I'll go for my favorite over indulge food which is pizza 10-12 slices later which I only intended to eat 2-3.
Just brush your teeth real well and tomorrow get back to what you were doing.. if you achieved your goal of 135 then you CAN reach your new goal of 130..0 -
I say it is good that you feel guilty about it. You feel bad because know that you did something that wasn't good or inline with your healthy goals. So listen to that voice, and use that as motivation to make up for it and stay back on course.0

Great advice already.. I have done this too and felt down about it.
Your goal is still within reach. Start anew and this indulgence won't impact it0 -
You didn't "pig out". You simply had a Bulk cycle that only lasted 1 day.
You've obviously got this thing figured out; reflected by your current success. No worries...0 -
Congrats on reaching your goal! One day will not set you back. Don't even stress about it. Another week of being on track and it will be like it never even happened.0

Thank you very much for your kind words it keeps me motivated :-) And the weirdest thing was I weighed myself this morning and actually lost half a pound...now that is strange but makes me feel much better!0

Congratulations on reaching your goal! Isn't it a lovely feeling? I reached my goal of 112 lb a week ago then felt a bit lost for the rest of the day. After debating into the next day, I set a new goal of 110 lb with the idea of going down to 105 lb flitting in my head. My splurge was a day off exercising except for walking.0 -
This reminds me of a book, "The Willpower Instinct." There was a phrase in there she used (and I can't remember it or find it online, sorry) about how we tend to moralize our choices, so that if we eat well for a day or lose one pound or work out really hard, we justify our entitlement to do something "bad" to make up for it. It also had to do with people having a finite amount of willpower every day. At any rate, it's a day, it's one bag; I know you feel like crap, but don't obsess about it. Just get back on track, and you'll be fine. And good for you for working on your health! :drinker:0

I can't relate because I don't like sweets, but potato chips, I've done that.0
