Snacking

I have a random question.
Instead of eating large portion meals during the 3 main meals, is it better to eat a smaller meal and then just have some snacks inbetween? does that make your metabolism keep working to burn more fat or calories? i did a lot of snacking yesterday because we were out of town (but i kept it healthy) and to my surprise when i weighed myself this morning i didnt gain anything. if anyone could let me know that would be great!

Most of the lit I have read suggest eating 6 times a day rather than 3 big meals. Personally, I try to vary my eating. It keeps things interesting lol0

Just experiment with both and find which seems easier for you to do for the long run. Neither is more right than the other0

Eating 3 small meals instead of 3 big meals keep your blood sugars level, bonus!0

A friend of mine had a trainer and she lost weight by eating smaller meals and small snacks in between. Apparently it keeps the metabolism working and it helped her loose weight. Of course with exercise and of course she would choose healthy low calorie snacks, at least 100 - 200 calories between each meal. Try it for a week and see how you feel and if it works for you ... you got nothing loose and its said to be a healthy way to go .. at least its much better than 3 big meals.0

You know the funny thing is I'm not a big MEAL eater. I like lots of things so even though I may log in things for breakfast lunch dinner and snack....it actually takes me longer to eat it.
Believe it or not I love things like yogurt, cottage cheese, fruit, edamame, GNC Total Lean protein shakes, applesauce, squash, etc. So eating this way is easier than I thought it would be. It's probably harder if you like a meat, a carb and a veggie.
My biggest problem was carbs. I could easily eat a loaf of bread toasted with butter! LOL But I realize now that all of my experience in dieting on Atkins was really a negative for me now because
1) Atkins no longer works for me now that I'm older and in menopause and
2) I got very used to eating all the fat I want so long as I don't eat carbs0 -
If you create a calorie deficit it does not matter how many meals or snacks you have spread your calories out. Contrary to what many personal trainers like to espouse eating more often does not "stoke your metabolism and keep it running high." Do what works for you. And do not think that snacking a lot one day will cause weight gain.0
