Should I exercise today? I'm really sore from yesterday...

I find a lot of inspiration and great advice here so I would appreciate feedback on this please!
I'm three weeks in and doing great! I've been using the treadmill 6 days a week for 30 minutes at a time. Yesterday I started the 30 day shred and I am so sore from it! I'm not sure if I should walk on the treadmill or let my muscles rest today. Is it damaging to keep working out when you're really sore or is it good?
Thanks for any advice or sharing what your experiences have been!

Keep going! That's how I felt the first time I did 30DS, but once your muscles are warmed up you'll feel fine! If you're really sore just do the modified versions of everything! Good luck!0

Exercising will help relieve some of the lactic acid build up! I always feel better after exercising when I'm sore!0

Sore is fine, pain is bad. I'd exercise.0

Keep going, the first three days will be the toughest. Push through it and you will do great. If it's too bad, take a bath with Epsom salts. Keep up the good work!0

when I'm sore from running the day before, I get out and run again. I'm getting to the point where I'm not sore which means i have to run longer distances. so go out and do it again unless it's pain. know the difference between pain and sore.0

Ok! Thank you all very much! I'm hitting it again today!0

as a friend told me once - Pain and soreness are weakness leaving the body (and weakness never leaves w/o a fight)
for me, the best time to exercise is when I am sore from the previous day's activities - it means I am doing something right and pushing my body in a way that it hasn't been pushed before and that is a good thing!!0 -
OK, I feel the need to add some sanity to this!! Yes I agree with all of the other posters; you should do something today, it will infact help. But make sure you are working something other than the things that are sore. Working the same muscle groups day after day will lead to overuse injuries. You may very well be doing some structure program that alleviates my concern but I don't know that, so my advice; do exercise but do not go heavy on the sore parts... Have a great day!0

Sore means youre doing it right and getting a good workout, but there shouldnt be pain. Youre muscles do need time to rest though, so alternate muscle groups on different days. Abs can be worked every day because they have poor muscle memory.0

If you have to ask, exercise! If it was enough pain to not exercise, you wouldn't have to ask. : )0

I guess I'll be the voice of opposition. Rest today. Maybe a full body stretch only. Continue again tomorrow.0

Hehe, in a few weeks you'll be complaining that your workouts no longer make you sore!0

I just walked 30 minutes on the treadmill and feel better. A lot of great advice and comments, I appreciate each and every one!0

LOL, me too, I guess I needed a push today! :laugh:0 -
you can keep going.
after you get into the workout, chances are that you will be far less sore.
on the other hand, its not a race, and if you feel you need to take a day or two off, its not going to hurt you as long as you come back to it quickly.0 -
