Walking to the arcade with my friends to play video games: Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Galaxian, Q-Bert, Dig Dug, Space Invaders, Centipede..... being able to walk there, to school, the store, ANYWHERE, without fear of getting kidnapped.

I hope you don't mind me posting that, but it's a link to my Pinterest 80's childhood board. Lots of nostalgia :-)

I still looooove 80's stuff, especially much of the music.

Awesome board. Brought back some great memories and made me feel old lol.

...and while "Music Television" played "music videos" (shocking right?), you could multitask by doing other 80s-relevant stuff. Who gets this one?

We used to listen to the 'Top 40' Chart on the radio on a Sunday night with our fingers poised ready to hit 'record' when our favourite songs came on, trying to miss as much of the DJ talking as possible!!!

Greetings professor Falken. Shall we play a game?
Watched "War Games" a billion times, along with "Space Camp". I remember wanting to try that "can pull tab" trick (phreaking) on a payphone, but they welding the speaker covers shut.

Didn't you hate when the DJ's would talk right in the middle of a song?! OMG, how many times did I have to [rewind-play-rewind-play-rewind-play-stop-record/pause] to find the beginning of the interrupted song and record over it?!

We had to stay up to midnight or 2am on Saturday to hear any rap songs and then they would sometimes cut short the show by an hour or two. *kitten*!

and when the songs get old, nothing "taping over the holes" can't fix!

Oooo, just remembered. A few weeks ago I found a manual from my VCR in 1985. It was made in Japan! Now THAT'S 80s nostalgia for ya, when Japan manufactured most of the electronics in your house. I dare to find a current "made in Japan" label in your house now! (no, your auto doesn't count)

I don't think much of your auto is made there anymore either (too expensive!)

Remember when computers were the size of an entire building? Ahhhhhh those were the days! I took my first computer class in 1980 - the server was located across town in an entire building! I remember the instructor telling us that during our lifetimes we would see computers that would fit in our pockets - and the classroom roared with laughter.

I loved and still do, Patrick. I met him and his wife (now widow) Lisa because I was taking classes with his mother Patsy. He was cool and just plain gorgeous.

My link to Patrick Swayze was working on his auto insurance policy. He was high risk and had to have one out of PA.

I am not surprised. Everything that Patrick did was high risk!
