I've only been going on this journey for about a month now, but since a few weeks ago, I became terrified of my scale. I went on vacation, didn't count calories, and probably gained a few pounds. Since then, I've been avoiding the scale like the plague.
Does anyone have any tips, or experiences with this?

Don't stress about your weight numbers--- For most people, your weight can fluctuate up to +/- 5 lbs day to day just from water retention changes. That means, even if you're losing fat and leaning out still, you might still see the scale numbers go up. That can make your scale a pretty stressful way to try and track your progress.
I found it helpful to weigh myself only once a week (in the morning on the same day). Even then, take it with a grain of salt. Taking pictures of yourself so you can SEE the progress you're making might be a little more accurate of a representation.
Big picture: losing weight and getting in shape can be an up and down process. It's not always going to go perfectly. The important thing is to keep your nose down and keep marching through the rough patches. If you can do that, you'll get where you want to go :-)0 -
A lot of people gain weight on vacation… Eating out, snacking, stress, water weight… etc…
Honestly… Oh well.
Don't be afraid of the scale, it is just a tool.
This journey you're on of losing weight, like most journey's in life, become less about being perfect, and more about how well you handle and overcome the problems and challenges.
Pick yourself up, and simply head in the right direction, if you don't know the right direction, keep moving, and you'll soon know if it is the wrong one, in which case, adjust…
You are where you are, and no matter where you want to go, you will only get there by taking the step that is in front of you at this moment. Being successful isn't a destination, it is a journey, and successful people aren't successful because of where they are, but because of what they are doing.

Get on the scale and deal with the consequences, if there are any. You might be surprised that you might not have gained much, if any while you were on vacation. I always convince myself it is going to be a lot worse than it actually is. If it is bad, then I learn from it and get focused. Your world will not end if you gained a few pounds. More and likely, the weight you gained is water weight and will go away quickly. Don't get so hung up on the scale. Face it, deal with it and you will be better for it.0

I was a scale nut for months and months... every day/week I'd weigh myself.
Then I realized that there's more to fitness and health then what the scale tells me... my energy levels and the mirror gave me more detailed updates about my progress
There's no problem simply avoiding the scale for a few days or even weeks - just stick to your plan, get right back at it and all will be well with your universe! Guaranteed!

Weight a couple days, then you will have lost enough that you have offset your vacation0

I'm not weighing in until June... I'm focusing more on living life without the scale dictacting how my progress has been. As long as I keep working out and watch my macros, I'll be fine.0 -

I understand what you're saying. I try to make myself wait a few days before I weight in after a vacation so I'm not upset by what I see. Just remember bathroom scales can lie, and pay more attention to the way you look and feel rather than what you see on that scale. Because I was sure I'd gained weight, and the scale confirmed it.
Then I went to put on a pair of jeans and they weren't any tighter, and I didn't look any different in the mirror when I looked at myself. Scales are yuckie.0
