Exercising and NOT lossing

Ok, so I have lost 16 lbs since Jan 1, which is awesome! But as of the past month, nothing, I have not lost 1lb...

I work out at least 5 days a week, and burn an average of 700-1000 calories every time I go (spinning alone or spinning and TRX)...I used a Heart Rate Monitor to properly track my calories (My Zone) and I eat clean, no processed foods and I eat (4) small meals a day and my total calorie intake is 1300 with a 40% Carbs, 20% FAT, 30% Protein...and alcohol I have 1-2 drinks on Saturdays....no dairy, no gluten, little to no sugar

In the beginning, I was not working out nearly this hard an lost 15lbs like that... I am wondering if the fact that I burning more calories and have not increased my calorie input is a factor here...I have not dropped a lb since I increased my cardio and weights. Wondering if my body is holding on to everything vs. letting it go...like starvation mode.

Any ideas or suggestions would be awesome...getting discouraged

Chances are, unless you are very large, you are overestimating your calorie burn. How did you determine you needed to eat 1300 cals/day?
  • i would imagine that if your burning that amount of calories and only eating 1200 calories your body is "not letting go' which is causing you to not lose weight but more importantly is stopping you from gaining all of the nutrients that your body needs in order to function at a level that would make you healthy.

I'm by no means an expert, just a person interested in a healthy life. hopefully my answer will help though. i think you need to up your calories and increase your healthy food intake.

How did you determine 1300 calories was correct for you? 1300 kcal/day in vs. 1000 kcal/day out doesn't seem like an amount that would be recommended by many nutritionists.

Do you use a food scale to measure your food? It's easy to underestimate serving sizes if you eyeball it, eat out, or use measuring cups to measure solid portions.

A heart rate monitor is great!

With no dairy, are you getting enough calcium?

I assume you mean no added sugar--otherwise, you'd miss out on many fruits and veggies. :)
