Going back to work...to many landmines!

I am a Culinary Educator and I head back to work today. It is my nemesis! I start the first half of the week out great and then I allow myself to take a bite here, there, and then everywhere!!! :frown:

I will be strong this year!!! I will set myself up for success!! I will not let my co-workers (total gluttons) influence me.

I want to change the old saying, "Don't trust a skinny cook".

When I am not working, I do well. Can anyone else relate to this?

I can relate! I teach as well. I'm on break right now for anoter two weeks. When I'm on break, I do really well! I exercise, count my calories, etc. However, when I go back to work, I have to balance getting the kids set for school and getting myself to work. I generally skip on packing a lunch for me and sometimes skip eating luch altogether. I have some colleagues who love putting candy bowls out or bringing in pastries. I'm generally good at avoiding the bowls of temptation but it takes all my will power. By the time I get home, I'm so hungry that I usually start grazing instead of making something quick and sensible before I start dinner. I'm hoping that this time around will be different! I'm going to be better about packing a lunch, drinking my water during lectures, and saying a pleasant "no thank you" to coworkers with treats .

I can totally relate. I used to teach Home Economics foods classes. When your teaching those you HAVE to taste what the kids are doing to know if it is right or not, plus I still love to cook at home and constantly taste test. It's the only way I know to make sure its done right, but miserable on the calorie counts!

WOW! I do not envy you the temptations you encounter on a daily basis.

Bethenny Frankel is a chef and I'm a fan of her 'never diet' philosophy. She's a skinny cook so it CAN be done.

One of Bethenny's tips that I LOVE is to spoil your appetite. I spoil mine all day long so I'm never ravenous. I ESPECIALLY make sure my appetite is spoiled before I encounter temptation. Perhaps some more appetite spoiling will assist you, too?

The other way I avoid temptation is by wearing tight clothing. Skinny jeans, a small belt, whatever. Keeps me in check. I'm sure you have a uniform, but perhaps a tight something-or-other underneath?

    YOU CAN DO IT!!!
