Hi
I have been logging on myfitness pal app now for 53 days (as it tells me!) and in that time I have lost 6lb.
I have stayed the same for the past 3 weeks and, though I know it's not officially a 'plateau' it's frustrating!
The last time I lost weight (3lb in a week!) I had what I classed as a 'bad week' any my cals per day for that week averaged out at 1705!
Since then I have averaged at 1579, 1626, 1675, 1456 (last week) and remained the same. According to my (lack of) fitness level (sedentary due to desk based job) and current height & weight, to lose 1lb a week I should be 1440 daily.
Obviously I have been over that but I'd have thought I'd have shifted at least 1/2lb as I'm consistently under my 2000 recommended and you should have seen what I was eating prior to this!!!
Any advice??? Am I eating too much or too little? Thoughts gratefully received!
Thanks

In 7.5 weeks, you have lost 6 lbs.
Sounds good to me. You're doing fine. Keep doing fine.0 -
Weight loss isn't linear.

Are you using exercise in combination with nutrition to lose weight? How is that going? Check out this blog a friend of mine wrote on this subject. It may give you some insights.

Your body will lose weight fast to start with, then it will slow up. Mine did the exact same thing and my weight didn't budge one bit over the course of last month despite me being active at the gym and on a calorie deficit.
Our bodies take time to adjust to what we are doing to them and with dieting we are putting our bodies into shock mode, which makes us hang onto fat, water, everything! Your body will adjust slowly but surely and you will start to lose weight again.
Water is really important when trying to lose weight. Make sure you get your 8 glasses per day and more if you are hitting the gym or running or whatever it is you do for exercise. Water helps your system to flush out all toxins etc, which in turn helps you to lose weight.
Keep up with the diet because it will work. You just have to be patient and don't try to rush your body into losing weight too fast.
Lots of salad, fruit, nuts, seeds, wholegrains and eat regularly. I tend to eat every few hours. Breakfast at 8am, lunch at 11.30am, afternoon snacks at 3pm and dinner at 6 or 7pm. By eating every few hours your body will continue to burn calories at a normal rate whereas if you starve your body for too many hours it will hang onto every last meal you gave it, which in turn lowers the metabolism.
Good luck!0 -
I wouldn't eat any less in my opinion. I'd add strength training to increase lean muscle, in turn you should than burn more during rest/while your sleeping. You are doing very well, your going the right direction. It's always better to maintain your current weight than to get frustrated and eat too much.0
