I am new to myfitnesspal . Been a member for some time but was not using it and had a couple friends tell me this site is such a help. So I only have read a few messages on the boards and both people have been so rude to the poster. Very sad as I used other boards and never seen just negative post. I will keep using the food logs but not sure the message boards are good. I went to this one because I too have seen both these items talked about and wondered about them.

So you wondered about them, presumably including considering trying them. Has anything that either side presented here swayed you one way or the other? Are you more or less likely to try them now?

If you had read my original question, you'd know that I simply wanted to know if there was any harm to my body in taking both at once. Also she was helpful in her response, whereas most people are just laughing in my face about "wasting my money" I spent $10 on one bottle. $10. Big whoop. I work out and eat clean but as I took the RK, I did see a huge difference in the way I felt without changing my routine, so it was worth it to me
So to answer your question, no, the people that tell me it's a waste of money over and over again are not being helpful, but taramaclaren was

You're missing the point, but whatever.

Anytime you mix drugs (and if these things have ANY physiological action in anyway whatsoever, then they are drugs) in your body, there is a chance for adverse reactions. That's why you are supposed to tell your Dr about any medicines and supplements you are taking. Neither RK nor GC have been tested for adverse reactions.

Since they don't actually do anything alone, I doubt they will do anything (positive or negative) together, but it would depend on their breakdown pathways (e.g. if they both induce Cyt P450 and you take them with certain other "real" medicines, then yes, the cumulative effect could damage your liver). Just because something is "natural" doesn't mean it is safe.

When I look at a risk:benefit analysis of things like this, I see an unknown risk for no benefit. Not worth it to me. It is obviously your call what you do though.

Last summer I lost over 30 pounds by running and cutting back on junk food. Along the way, I heard about Raspberry Keytones. Now, I'm a firm believer that you gotta work for what you want and a pill will NOT give you the results you want. However, I decided to try the keytones just to see if they would boost my weight loss even more. Although I'm not sure if they helped any with wight loss, I did notice that they made me feel better, more refreshed and above all — helped with bloating.
So now I'm hearing about the Cambogia and I'd like to see about taking it as well, not so much for the weight loss, but for the other benefits it might have.
My question is...do you think it would be ok to take both of these on a daily basis?

My goodness this thread escalated quickly!! As you are a newbie, let me give you some advice about the MFP forums - never ask about supplementation. This community is dedicated to very pure fitness/food for weightloss as you have found out. In general, you will find the same few themes repeating themselves across every thread in this forum:

    1) All supplements are a complete waste of money
    2) The person above you is hot
    3) Eating at the MFP weight-loss calorie deficit is not enough to fuel your body
    4) Nothing but hard work and eating clean will be effective
    5) You are not working out enough
    6) You are not eating enough
    7) Women need to lift heavy

Basically scramble the above and you'll have an answer for any question you might have!

Now for my two cents - While I agree for the most part with the listed topics above, I also believe in quality supplementation to enhance your already steady efforts. I love 5 hour energy pre-workout and CLA post workout. I have tried a few appetite suppressants and some are better than others, but mostly I use them very short term to help me get back on track after a vacation or trip etc. I have never tried Ketones or GC, but if you want to try out, do it! :) Even if it is a "waste of money" or just "placebo" if helps you get closer to your goal I don't think there is any reason to pass judgement. Just always pay close attention to how your body feels and make sure to do your online research as thoroughly as possible. Oh, and I know you are aware, but no supplement can replace your effort - you still need to keep up the healthy food and working out.

    Good luck!!
Yes, thank you! THIS is a helpful response.. and I agree, by no means use ANY kind of pill to replace working out or eating clean.

1 - True.... Most supplements do nothing
2- What does a topic in the Chit Chat forum have to so with anything regarding this post?
3- True - Very broad statement.....people that set to lose too much weight of a short period are not eating enough
4- A few fanatics give that advise.......95% dont.
5 - You dont need to work out to lose weight and no one says that.
6 - Some people dont eat enough or do you think 800 cals a day is great?
7 - Women dont NEED to lift heavy. It is however a great way to change your body.

I am not sure you read my post entirely - I was not presenting that list as my advice but rather the opinions and threads I see most commonly presented in this community. I can tell you are itching for a good debate and I'm happy to oblige, but I can't assume opinions that aren't my own - which seems to be the misunderstanding here.

    4) Nothing but hard work and eating clean will be effective

You obviously haven't read and learned as much as you thought you did.

Not entirely sure what you mean here - are you trying to make a statement? Ask a question? Or be rude? Please clarify so I can respond appropriately.

assume the least objectionable....ie make a statement.

i think theyre referring to the fact that eating "clean" has been proven to be a load of crap many times. there are no unhealthy foods, just unhealthy habits

Ahh - okay awesome. Thanks for explaining- definitely helpful! :)

And to clarify my initial point - I wasn't presenting that as my opinion, just as something that is commonly read in these threads.

I do, however, try to eat clean and local. Not only because I like eliminating toxins from my body, but I enjoy knowing that my eggs were from chickens who roamed around a little farm somewhere nearby and my beef was from a cow who grazed freely on the open range of Texas.

And to be honest, I have a very hard time accepting that eating 200 calories of cheese whiz is the nutritional equivalent of my 200 calorie oatmeal + eggs breakfast.

You should have a hard time accepting that, because it isn't true. It's also a laughably ridiculous and ignorant statement to make, as nobody thinks that.

If there was a pill to make you loose weight no one would be fat, that is all.

I once got a small bottle for free with a purchase of some fish oil supplements online and I took a few--cause, hey, why not. I knew I wasn't going to lose any real weight, but I've heard a lot of people claim that it helps them lose a bit of water weight.

Obviously, they didn't do anything, but I did like them because they gave me raspberry burps. :blushing:

I tried the combination last month. I didn't lose any weight at all. Dr. Oz was wrong.

This month, I am doing old fashioned exercise and eating very cleanly (see Dr. Oz May diet). No supplements. I had gotten up to 159 pounds (20 pounds heavier than picture). I just finished a bowl of homemade lentil soup as my dinner. I've lost 4 pounds so far. Love the strawberry water, and it's working out really good so far. I am full, eating 5 small meals a day. The weight is dropping off steadily. I am pleased so far with old fashioned exercise and eating well..

I wish I had my $50 back from the supplements to go towards fruits, veggies, and ice time.
