I'm in! 20 pounds is a nice goal (though I am unsure whether it's my ideal weight, so I'll have to wait and see) and it should be doable to lose it in this amount of time. I will check this thread regularly and offer you my support!
First, some general info:
(nick)name: Dagnova
Gender: Male
Height: 6'2
Built: Athletic
Age: 27
Starting Weight/Date: 234 - Early 2013
Current Weight/Date: 200 - May 7, 2014
Goal Weight/Date: 180 - September 15, 2014
Some extra rules:
- If I am more than 195 lbs before June 15, I will donate 100 euros to charity (but I won't give up)
- If I am more than 190 lbs before July 15, I will donate 100 euros as well (btw I am a student so this is a lot of money for me - which also makes it a good incentive)
- I will set more of such goals when time passes. As I mentioned, I'm not sure about what the best end goal is. Losing 20 may be perfect, but it may also be a bit too much. I just don't know.
What I do to reach this goal:
- No fast food challenges (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1268638-no-fast-food-challenge-may)
- Eat the rainbow every day (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1280299-eating-the-rainbow)
- Add as much movement to my day as possible: walking the stairs whenever I can, taking little strolls through the workday, biking everywhere I can, parking bike on other end of parking lot so I maximise my walk, etc).
- I will avoid sitting down for too long at my computer (this is the hardest challenge)
- I will keep exercising a lot, I really enjoy this.0 -
I need to lose 30 lbs. According to what the USAF tell me I need to weigh. I havent weighed that little since high school, but would love the support.0

Actual goal is 132 but I'd like to have 6 pounds of yoyo weight to play with during holidays and Winters.

Great job everyone! It looks like we all have some great goals. You can do it!
Make smart choices every meal of every day. Yesterday at my son's baseball game, my other little boy got some snacks from the snack bar. I had two Red Vines, and could have had more, but I just had my little treat and stopped there.
I had a great day yesterday, even though I'm getting over this bad chest cold. I can't do any cardio right now until my lungs clear out, but I kept my calories down and made mostly good choices.
Think about your goal weight when you exercise, whether it's cardio or weights, remembering your goal will help push you further. When you're tired, and you want to rest or stop for the day, think about that goal. Think about how your clothes will fit (that's a big motivator for me). Think of how you will feel, and how proud you'll be. Then run a little further, or do another set, or whatever you need to do to push yourself just a little harder.
One thing that has helped me make smarter eating decisions this week is to remember WHY I'm doing this. For me, it's easy, I have a vacation in September which gives me an exact date. And I have my ideal/goal weight that I want to be when I go on that vacation.
I tell myself: "Is this good for France?" or "Is this going to help me get ready for France?" And by remembering my vacation, I'm stronger and better at resisting temptations.
After the vacation, it's going to be another challenge to keep the weight off... but that'll be another discussion 5 months from now. ;-)
Remember to check in whenever you want. Every couple of days feel free to post a progress update!0 -
I'm hoping to lose about 15 more pounds, but 20 would be Ok too. I just started & lost 4.2 pounds since April 29th. I am just turned 59 (May 5th). 5'6" & currently 153.6pounds. Supposedly at my age & Height I should be between 135 & 145lbs.
I've been bringing my lunch for a while & just started Jillian Michaels newer Kick boxing DVD last week. I am already working out better. More coordinated. some of the combinations aren't in my head yet. But I'm doing the workouts all the way through, uncoordinated or not.0 -
I'd like to join in. This is my first post, though I've lurked for quite a while. I'm not truly looking for a full 20 more pounds, but in the 15-20 ball park. Also, Sept. 15 is my birthday, so I feel like it's a great goal date.
