Abs Abs Abs

I am need of some new ideas. I get bored pretty quick with most ab routines, and I was hoping for something a little different. My belly area is in need of some really good help. Can anyone suggest a great ab routine that isn't crunches, leg raises, plank, blah, blah, blah. Thanks in advance for all the help.

could try the new ab wheel.

read an article where they measured the electrical activity of the abdominal muscles and apparently they work them as well as hanging leg raises.

i'd make my normal suggestion but no one ever takes me up on it and you've already poo-pooed a good portion of the exercises lol

    around the world
    side weight bends
    russian twists
    hollow hold
    dragon flag
    front lever
    flutter kicks

It's going to come with fat loss otherwise you wont see it anyway but any sort of full body compound lift will use your core. Just make sure you are bracing it properly and breathing. Kettle bell swings are good for the core too.

This! My core gets enough work by lifting heavy things.

    this.

also, i feel my abs were awesome when i did hard kettlebell routines.

The best ever ab exercise is 5 sets of stop eating so much crap :) I don't do many exercises that don't also work my core, but I only see abs when I watch what I eat.

That's if you just want to see them.

But, if you are looking for specific exercises to strengthen abs for another reason, ie, to benefit cycling, then you already said you don't like some of the ones that will help :) Planks & russian twists are my favorite specific ab-targeting exercises.

that dragon flag looks KILLER. most people aren't going to be able to do many of those, or any at all if they don't already have some good core strength.

that gets a thumbs up from me

the hollow hold looks good to, but i'd argue its basically a weighted crunch with some lower ab stim. i.e. a very effective six pack exercise

Thanks for all the responses so far. I have started a StongLifts 5x5 program which is heavy and heavier wt. The Dragon Flag looks extemely cool, and who could argue with Bruce Lee. I see several other good suggestions, and I am going to try those. Thanks again.
