staring at the clock

Im literally staring at the clock waiting for the next alotted time to eat. This drives me crazy. What can i do to forget about food?

    Try to do something else to preoccupy yourself like watch a movie, play a game, read, browse the internet or you could simply try drinking lots of water because that can help. :D

    what's your total calorie goal? The most common cause of obsessing about food is not eating enough, because it's a natural survival response that stopped our ancestors from starving to death due to forgetting to eat. (they didn't know how much to eat, their bodies had to signal to them somehow...)

    most people can eat a lot more than they think and still lose weight. You don't have to starve yourself, you just have to eat less than you burn off.

    I have days like that every so often, and it happened a lot during the first few weeks I was at this. Try to keep busy! I have an 800ml water bottle that I fill and tell myself no food until it's gone. Browse the internet, read a book, take a shower (for some reason taking a shower always curbs my appetite plus it takes up a bunch of time), go for a walk. Mostly I go for walks.

    What works for me is eating very regularly. I eat every 2-3 hours or so during the day (being at work keeps me busy) and then after dinner I have one small snack every hour until I run out of calories.

    My goal is 2000 calories a day. How long does the shock last from switching from pigging out to sensible eating?

    I havent really been exercising so i kind of wanted to not go past 2000 until i start doing ..something.

    Carry snacks such as vegetables or fruit, drinking water also helps me.

    I eat a lot more often and a lot of big portions of less processed food.
    Not a recommendation but just for example....
    Half a baked chicken breast: 120 calories
    Whole can of green beans: 70 calories
    MEAL TOTAL: 190 calories
    If you ate 8 of these meals a day it would be 1520 calories and you would be stuffed out your gills and still undereating.

    have you calculated your calorie needs? Use Harris Benedict or similar (you can find online calculators to save you doing all the maths) ........ 2000 calories is an average... if you calculate your calorie needs, you'll know how much you can eat while still losing weight, and not have to guess. Guessing can leave you hungry when you don't need to be hungry.... or make you not have a calorie deficit at all.

    If your calories are sufficient, the next step is to eat more foods that have a lower calorie density - so you feel full on fewer calories. But don't go OTT with this, because your body still needs fat (fatty foods have a high calorie density because fat does) and fat also helps you to feel full. Eating plenty of protein helps you to feel full. So eat protein, fatty foods that are high in essential fatty acids and fat soluble vitamins, and carb foods that have a low calorie density, to feel fuller on the same number of calories.......... but also make sure the total number of calories is enough for you (calculate, don't guess) and also make room for all the foods you really enjoy (ice cream, chocolate, whatever it is), no matter how calorie dense, just fill up on the other stuff first then use your remaining calories for the high calorie density foods you can't live without - just be really careful about portion sizes so they don't put you over your calories. Eating them more slowly makes up for the smaller portion sizes.

    I dont know. Some places say i should eat 2000 ish, some say 2500 and other say 3500. That s quite a difference. That one you said says my calorie intake should be 3632.28, with a BMR of 3026.9

    But that seems like an awful lot.

    I don't stare at my clock. I only stare at my android phone, so I can read recent posts in forum :blushing:

    Answer: Get yourself busy..Do something that you love to do. I dont think food is always in your mind. To prevent eating a lot, try snacking in between meals,like apples or banana.

    I'd just stick to 2000. It doesn't seem bad. Just ignore the hunger and get on with something else. I'm always hungry. :D
