Bulimic Starting Recovery....

So my bulimia was completely out of control a couple of months ago and I've gradually managed to reduce my binge, purge and binge/purge episodes to just a couple times week (that probably sounds crazy to you but for me that'a a miracle - at one point I was b/p-ing every day, up to 7 times a day)
Now if I do binge and/or purge it's either out of habit, or because I feel stressed. I know that distraction will be the best thing to deal with those things so I was wondering if anyone could share what they do to distract themselves or just what hobbies you have. Bulimia kind of consumed me and I don't really know what to do with myself without it.

Usually when I am about to purge I go to the mirror and smile. It sounds stupid but I had braces for four years and do whitening treatments bi-weekly. It helps to think about how bulimia will ruin my teeth eventually and all of this hard work will be for naught.0

I am very proud of you for your recovery process.
I never had an eating disorder such as bulimia, but I can imagine how hard it would be to overcome it. Just take one step at a time and you will get through this, everything takes time. *hugs* I know I have some disorders myself and the way that I fought them was to reach out to friends or family when I felt an episode coming on. (if you want to friend me for a support please send me a request) - I will put my mind directly on something else such as reading, school work, or what not. Keeping myself busy was the best thing for me to do. And as weird as this sounds... I have a stuffed animal I tend to go to when I am having an issue and just hold it and squeeze it to death until I feel better. I also know *getting out* of the area helps to - like I would get in my car and go for a drive, or someone would come pick me up. Just being away from the situation can help.0 -

That is a good idea actually, my teeth have always been pretty good, and I don't know if it's just that I'm being over-aware because I know the damage I must be doing to them but I swear they're looking a bit see through-y at the tips I'll try smiling at myself to put me off x)0 -
