why do i not feel hungry

Hi,

I have dropped 19 lb in the last 4 weeks I`m 37 6ft 1 and was 271lb now 252.
I`m not really using my "excerise calories" and don't feel hungry should I?
for example average day is

2 shredded wheat
250 ml of skimmed milk

1 hard boiled egg
2 x riveta craker bread

tin tuna (spring water)
cucumber 1\2 cup
lettuce 1\2 cup
celery 1\2 cup
tomato 100g
2 cracker bread
30g salad cream 70% less fat
1tsp hot scotch bonnet sc

100g stiry fry veg ( no oil)
1/2 carrot
broccoli 160g
chicken breast 100g ( baked)
water chestnuts 50g
baby corn 55g
green beans 50g

3 pints of water
4 cups of mint during day

exercise for day was 90 minutes brisk walk gained me 646 calories
target cals for day is 1700

with food for today above this leaves me

1309 cals left
163 carbs
65 fat
32 protein
37 sugar

question is I don't feel hungry but think I should be with that much spare.

many thanks.

I don't have any scientific data but I never have hunger (or stress) issues on days that I get in some good cardio. Those days are the best so I try to get in as many as possible.

There are many factors that affect hunger. It is not a reliable indicator that we need to eat or not.
Hormones can affect hunger. Restricting calories, especially strictly, can affect hormones.
It is not uncommon for people who are restricting calories to not experience hunger. It is not an indicator of whether you are eating enough or not.
Anorexics often don't experience hunger and they are literally starving. Some overweight people experience constant hunger and they do not need to eat more.

Hey, just a suggestion but is it perhaps because before you started paying attention you never realised you weren't hungry? Like before I started trying to be more conscious about what I ate and why, I just ate because I wanted to. And I never thought about why, I just figured I was hungry so yeah... this led to me being "hungry" for more doughnuts/ cheese/ chips when if you had asked me to eat a boiled egg or whatever, I would have been fine without.

So, uh... yeah. I think the buzzword is mindful eating but for me it was just checking in with myself. If I'm aware that there's something tasty nearby, my thoughts get filled with it. I have to remind myself that's not hunger. That's a desire for food. Maybe just drawing a line under it, what you can and can't eat has helped you realise that you're not as constantly-hungry as you may have feared?
  • I dont know. Though, sometimes I think some people want to lose the weight so badly and fast they tend to ignore the hunger.
