So I keep hearing that beans are super bad for the body and they make you gain weight like crazy.
but idk
Would it be fine to have like one cup of baked beans a day?
like the bush's homestyle baked beans?

those canned baked beans are FULL of sugar -- if you're trying to avoid sugars/carbs in excess (i don't know if you are or not) you might want to keep an eye on that FYI.0

Yup, along with bread, pasta, rice, eggs, dairy, fruit, certain vegetables, etc.0

Beans are FABULOUS for being nutritionally dense and filling for their serving size. However, as others have said, you MUST at least try to avoid the canned stuff. Not only do they tend to have more calories, but they have insane amounts of sodium. Making your own beans is really cheap and easy anyways - just don't forget to add the salt and garlic (or whatever you like) at the beginning of the cooking process.
Don't be afraid to load up on the legumes! They're my favorite low(er) calorie food.
Also try making your own lentils; I like mine seasoned with garam masala, plain yogurt, and a little bit of olive oil. Combining lentils and mung beans is another one of my favorites.
Beans can also be used to substitute flour in some recipes. Chocolate muffins (with black beans), lemon and blueberry muffins (with a white bean), and whole wheat carrot/zucchini/flax muffins with pinto beans are all AMAZING. I served these to a group of friends and they were gone in an instant. Everyone was shocked to learn that I had used beans to replace some of the flour.
Don't give up on beans, ever! And those of you who are still fans... well, good. =|0 -
