Liver Cleanse?

Let me start with this: I am not looking for a quick fix. I didn't get fat overnight, and do not expect to drop 30 lbs. in a month.. However, I just started reading about liver cleansing. Has anyone tried it and did it work for you? Is it worth the hassle and hunger? Please, help!

Sorry, this gif just kind of personifies my feelings of "cleanses". You're not cleansing anything. Your liver and kidney do a bang up job alone. Cleanses are useless0 -
Do you have liver problems?
If so, see your doctor.
If not, eat, drink, and be merry.0 -
I'll just leave this here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1159755-looking-for-a-detox-cleanse0

I do not have liver problems but a close family member has fatty liver disease so that's what got me thinking about it. Thanks Dianne for the link, helpful information.0

My daughter has auto-immune hepatitis and something that apparently helps the liver is warm lemon water right in the morning. Not sure whether this REALLY helps, but well you asked. Otherwise, avoid as much as you can salt and fatty food, e.g. fries and eat plenty of veggies.
No medications if possible and zero (!!!) alcohol! Alcohol is the biggest no no.
All of the above is the information I got from my daughter' sliver specialist.

There are foods that can help your liver function (like garlic), but anything with "detox" in the name is gimmicky. Your body should detox naturally, and your liver is a big part of that; if you think your liver is functioning poorly (black, greasy stool, jaundice, etc., though liver problems are hard to detect from outside the body), see your doctor.0
