Suddenly can't stop eating

I've had this 'lifestyle change' for over a year now no problem, i've been eating clean and healthy and i found it easy right from the get go. But suddenly i have this overwhelming urge to eat everything sweet, chocolaty and carby in sight it's like my stomach is a bottomless pit. Don't get me wrong i had a day here or there like this before but nothing like this, this has been consistent for days now. I'm binging on 1500 calories worth of snacks in the space of 20 minutes. I have no self control.

I admit i am feeling a little low but i've been down before and it hasn't caused anything like this. I've recently finished college and now i'm at home a lot. What can i do to tame this?

Is it possable you may just have a lot more free time on your hands? Maybe you just need to keep yourself busy?

I totally understand what you mean. I have been feeling like this recently too, and although I haven't actually given in to the feelings yet they are always there driving me crazy. My only suggestion is keeping busy, some kind of crafts, reading a book or a walk. I'm so sorry I can't offer more help but I'm crashing the thread for ideas :-). Good luck with it.

This is quite possible but i find it very hard to keep myself busy. I don't have a job yet and there's no volunteer opportunities where i live and i don't have many people i can socialise with. There's only so many times you can go for a walk by yourself to keep busy.

Do you tend binge at the same time each time? Are you getting enough sleep and rest? How about your meals? Have you made any changes to the type of food you eat and what time you eat?

Certainly sounds like the mix of emotions & extra time are triggering the binges, here is what helped me if you feel yourself starting to do it, head out of the house and go for a walk, and if you can't find something you love to do that keeps your hands busy for me it's scratch foil art that keeps binges at bay remind yourself of how far you have come!
If that still doesn't help maybe work out what foods trigger the binges but don't deprive yourself of the foods you want as this can lead to binges maybe when craving something grab something, eat it and go out for a walk/bath straight away so you can't physically eat anything else? Or set a time rule of no more food for 15minutes and in these 15minutes do something to distract you.
Hope you find something that works for you

This always happens in the morning hours when i first get up after breakfast. I probably oversleep if anything and i never eat after my dinner at 6pm so i' not sure if this has something to do with it. But i just never get hungry at night.

I'm the opposite, so my meals are later in the day. I don't have breakfast, but I get an early lunch and two evening meals instead. There may be normal times to eat, but it's more important to time your food around when you know you get hungry, as you'll just fall off the wagon otherwise.

I'm guessing your routine has changed a lot, so your body now wants fed at different times. Listen to it.

Without knowing where you live, it's hard to comment on things to do (I appreciate if you live in the middle of nowhere and have to be careful with money due to not having a job, you may well have limited options) but being bored really does lead to pointless eating. Finding something to keep you busy will help.

What do you usually eat for breakfast? Do you feel tired after breakfast? For me, sometimes after breakfast the combination of being bored, not satisfied with what I ate and being tired, would cause me to pick at snacks.

I had an "incident" over easter involving me and a large bag of "easter M&Ms". Wasn't pretty but hell, I enjoyed them and got back on the wagon the next day. I will keep an eye on this thread for help and support... You definitely have my understanding though!
