Body Type on Dating Sites

So, I'm 5'6" and 181 lbs as of today. My body is curvy (full chest, small waist, round hips, and big booty). On dating websites, I usually check "curvy" as my body type because that's what I see when I look in the mirror (and I like it!). But there seems to be a stigma when checking off "curvy, " or, "a few extra pounds." Basically, I hear that men think it's code for being fat. And while I do have about 30 lbs to lose, I def consider myself a pretty fit curvy girl. What do y'all think? I try my best to post recent full body pics (like my MFP profile pic), but still, is checking off curvy a deterrent?

oh & this reminds me of a brilliant quote about online dating

"Women are scared of being raped or murdered & Men are scared of meeting someone fat"

something like that and so damn true

I'd say average but only if you're sure to include a current full length picture. Curvy is online code for heavy. The reason is, when they search you'll get excluded but if that's a recent picture on your profile here, your not heavy!

Let's be real here, I haven't met a guy yet, from online, that posted a recent picture. The closest I got was 2 years old (and after you pass 40 those two years make a difference!).

That's the great thing about MFP. You know that people are who they say they are. Hands down, the best dating site on the net. *nods* true story

Is there a blank space where you can put that you feel you have 30 lbs to lose?

Are there spaces to put your picture?

What I've learned on dating sites is...

Athletic, curvy, average, "little extra" etc are all euphemisms for "fat"
Women with kids love to pass off pre-baby pics as current
Women with kids also like to say "my kids come first no matter what so if you can't deal with that blah blah" GMAFB
99% of women are "spiritual, but not religious" i.e., they like to sleep in on Sunday but tell their parents they are active members
If she is holding booze in all of her pics, she's trouble

Basically any reasonable description is usually co-opted by those that desperately need the description to make themselves feel better.
The OP meets the old definition of "curvy", but that description is now used(for better or worse) by people shaped like Melissa McCarthy.
A more extreme example, my thin wife hates it that in department stores "women" means heavy.

Well, while I could be disappointed that I'm excluded from searches based on on my "body type", I don't wanna deal with those dudes anyways. It's cool. I guess all one can do is post real pictures of themselves. I'm pretty sure guys can figure it out for themselves. IMHO, my body is pretty fly, yo! :)
