You may have heard a few weeks ago that Facebook have brought the app "MOVES". I didn't know what it was so i went and downloaded it (its free).

Its basically a tracker for your movements during the day. Its handy because like everyone else i go the gym and eat healthy 90% of the time. However i've always wondered how much i'm burning when i walk into the city (15min) or them few hours in the shopping centre.
Thats where MOVES comes in.

It has a step-omiter, tracks where you have traveled (somehow it knows when you're in the car/bus), gives you distance, duration and the all important calories burned.

Iv been using it for a few weeks now and iv been putting a "daily burn" on my fitnesspal app under the cardio, where i fill in how many calories iv burned when i'm walking about, supplied by the MOVES app.

When you use it daily as i do, you can name places on the map like gym or your home etc. What's cool is when you name your gym you can put in how long you have done, or if the app is working correctly it does it for you. It then gives you an estimate of how many calories you have killed in the time you are there. I have to say its not 100% but its not far off..

So this post is really just to tell you about it. Iv always wanted to know what and how much im burning as i walk around and this is perfect. Ok so it uses your battery but not at the rate i was expecting im still going to bed with 30-40% on my iphone.

Give it a go.

Just so you are aware of it:

The privacy issues would concern me, but if it's not something you worry about, then carry on and enjoy!

That could be a concern for some folk, and understandably so.

Any privacy policy can be changed at any moment with any company/app or service provider we use. They write it in so they can change it. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do.
FitnessPal could easily change theres, so they share what people are eating most of with the supermarkets for example.

With technology effectively running our daily lives. The data collected will be sold and used against us, this is something we are forever slaves to.

Thanks for bringing that up though, like most people i don't sit and read small print, T&Cs etc. I am glad i know this now.

I had the app but I used too much of my battery so I had to switch it off. :(
