been running for years, long distances, but wondering if my running is affected by sports asthma at all. not sure if my breathing is labored because of running too fast too long, or because i might have sports asthma. hoping to see a doc soon, but how can you tell the difference between asthma and regular tightness in lungs? (<-- is that normal?) anyone else feel like they're not making any lung capacity progress in their speed workouts?

I have a lesser degree of asthma that is normally triggered by environmental conditions or allergens. It has been windy the last month with lots of particulates in the air and I find I run out of breath more and have tightness while breathing during exercise. Maybe something like that for you?

I doubt any of us are pulmonologists, but the true way to find out if you do or do not have asthma would be to schedule an appointment to see one and have a lung function test done.
