Hey there, not sure where to even post this really but I feel like I am having an early pregnancy miscarriage. I'm not positive but I don't feel like this is a normal period, as I have been pretty regular since I've been with my husband for five years. I just got over my period around Christmas and began spotting a few days ago. This just doesn't feel like a period to me but I'm not experiencing very heavy bleeding [there's spotting of red blood here and there when I go to the bathroom] But I read lying on your left side could slow things down? I don't know if that's true. But basically I took two tests that both said negative. I'm just trying to take it easy as much as possible because when I feel stressed or anxious I feel like I start to bleed. Anyway, no idea what's going on, but if you can share any of your experiences with me in a message on here that would be greatly appreciated. I'm just not ready to go to a doctor, please don't tell me to go, because I WILL go if it is bad enough. I'm just waiting to see if something will happenen..

  • Uh...I would go to the doctor. I know it's not what you want to hear but just how bad is bad enough for you to go? If you wait, it could end up being a lot worse, ya know?. Right now, it might be easier to handle whatever is going on...maybe preventable if it's something else other than a miscarriage.
  • If you are pregnant there could be a reason and something that the doc could do to stop it, it could save your baby....so go! Spotting can also happen during inplantation but you wont know without going to a doctor. Home pregnancy test are 100% id go straight to the ER

    two things...

1st- A friend of mine just lost her sister (who was only 34) she told her she was going to go to the doctor in a few days if things didn't get better and died that night. Not trying to scare you, just saying!

2nd- Two weeks after my normal period (five years ago) I had spotting and felt it was a bit off. I was prego. Healthy and happy but prego.

I've personally experienced an ectopic pregnancy (MUCH pain associated with this, ended up with a ruptured fallopian tube and surgery to remove it), and in 2009 I had two early pregnancy miscarriages. While I cannot say what's going on with your body right now, what differs from my experiences and your current one is that you just had what you reference as a regular period only.. approximately 2 weeks ago? It's very unlikely that a home pregnancy test would be able to give you accurate results right now if you are pregnant... if you ARE in fact pregnant, this could be implantation bleeding, nothing at all to do with pregnancy, or a VERY early miscarriage... no way to tell for sure at this stage and no way for a doctor to prevent a miscarriage at this point either. However, I urge you to get to the doctor/ER as soon as possible if you are experiencing ANY pain whatsoever along with the bleeding, as --on the off-chance that it is an ectopic pregnancy-- you will need this to be taken care of immediately. I wish you all the best, and please keep us posted on how you're doing.

Generally, even an early miscarriage will result in a positive test result because there is a spike in the measured hormones. I've had a couple and my first 11 years ago, my doctor explained this to me and I had one in spring 2010, and then I had an instance of insemination but no implantation (pills) about a month after that. I should not have even known about that one so I don't really count it as a miscarriage.

If you REALLY want a definite answer, go to the doc. Otherwise, if there's no serious symptoms such as heavy bleeding, clots, severe pain, vomiting, dizziness, headaches or problems with your vision then - personally - I probably wouldnt' worry about it too much. But then, I extraordinarily attuned to what's going on with my body so I'm really good at self-diagnosing and I'm usually right. If you're worried though, then listen to that and call your OB.

Only you can really determine what the best step for you in this situation will be.

Thanks for all the responses. I realize I need to go to the doctor since I think something is up but I haven't experienced any real heavy bleeding or too painful cramps so I assumed I was okay. After reading these [especially the awfully scary one] just makes me want to go now. I guess I'm just a little in denial right now. But I really appreciate your responses. Thanks for listening/sharing. I will post what I find out when I find out.
  • was your last period a NORMAL period for you? LIke as heavy/light and as long/short as usual? And how long ago did you last take a HPT? I had a light "period" with both of my pregnancies and if i had not been charting/trying, i would have thought that nothing had happened that month, when indeed, it had.

Also, another possibility, if you had a normal period 2 weeks ago AND your spotting right now is just that: spotting and light, you may be having some mid-cycle spotting which is not totally abnormal and this may be a change for you as i see you have lost 30 pounds+ already. However, i think the best thing is to check with your dr and if, by all means, there is PAIN involved, the sooner the better! And one last thing: if its been a while since taking that last HPT or if it wasnt with your first-morning pee, then go go go, take another!

Hope things go well for you!

I just miscarried on Christmas. I was 2 weeks into my cycle. Well, turns out, I wasn't cycling, I was about 4 weeks pregnant. I know I was pregnant, because I was nauseated, EXTREMELY fatigued and hungry. If you are bleeding in the middle of your cycle, you are either pregnant and miscarrying or you just had an implant. I would see your doctor.

Well I went to Urgent Care last night and took a pregnancy test. Negative - same as my previous two I had taken. Had blood drawn and went home to wait for a call. Less than 1 percent pregnant? Something like that.. so negative. She said the other most likely possiblity other than an ectopic pregnancy would be an ovarian cyst. I am going to schedule an ultrasound soon to confirm. Other than that she said if I have any severe pain to go to the ER. So for now, I'm all right. I don't know much about this but from what I've read and what she told me most of these "work themselves out" or something among those lines. Thanks for listening and giving input, everyone. I really appreciate it.

I also am quite sorry about this. I have been there and I was around 7 weeks. It really is no fun and it's hard to explain to those who haven't experienced it. My thoughts are with you and thank you for writing.
