Ecstatic and frustrated at the same time....

In my 20s I ranged anywhere from size 4 to a 12 after the birth of first 2 kids. In my 30s I had 2 more babies back to back, was in a size 14 (if a 14 did not fit, I just did not buy because I refused to accept I could be a 16!). When the scale got to 199 I knew it was time. I had tried a few times over the last few years, but never lasted past 2 weeks! But I was not going to let the scale hit 200. So here I am, about 2 months later and hit the 20 lb mark today. Yay me! I had bought a pair of size 12 pants a few weeks ago, got them on but I was busting out of them. Well I wore them to work today and they were even a little big! So 20 lbs gone as of today, fit into my smaller jeans, but look in the mirror and see no change from 2 months ago. Of course I was happy at the progress, but why don't I see a change? I still look exactly as fat as I did before I lost any weight. I still want to lose 40 more lbs, so I have a lot of work to go. I am NOT giving up this time. But why can't I see a change? I know there is change, why can't I see it?

I've been experiencing that same feeling, and it's because we see the changes day to day and they're very gradual. If you have any before pictures it may help.

Also, the more weight you have to lose, the slower you see the progress. If someone weighs 120lbs and loses 20lbs, you see it right off. If someone who weighs 250lbs loses 20lbs, it's not as 'drastic' of a change even though the effort was put in.

So basically, keep at it and you will start seeing the changes before long! Take some before and after photos, so once you hit goal you can see the differences side by side. It's already awesome you've dropped a size!

As above post says, we see ourselves in the mirror every day. I don't see the progress too much but heck, the clothes tell the story. That and my Saturday work colleagues tell me they can see the difference.
If the clothes fit... wear em :D
    Congratulations on your progress.

Thanks for the support! The scale shows progress, my clothes show progress, I just don't see it. But that is a good point, its slow going so hard to see for me. And to think of it, most people who have noticed the weight loss are people I don't see often, so easier for them to notice. I think I will try the pictures so I could compare, good idea! Thank you again for your support on this crazy hard life changing journey.
