It would be a 30 day juice fast. The juices would include lots of leafy green veggies and some fruits. The goal is to cleanse (remove toxins), lose weight, get more energy and promote all over health. Thanks so much.

I would love to! I juice regularly already but have really been wanting to do a fast to shed some stubborn pounds before summer. When do we start?0

Fad diets are not usually well received on MFP. Juice diets are generally considered a waste of time for the following reasons:
-The majority of weight lost during a juice fast will be water weight that will return once solid food is re-added into the diet.
-If you have normal liver and kidneys, these are perfectly capable of doing all the 'cleansing' your body requires.
-30 days living on juice with little or no fats and protein does not seem a good plan for giving you 'more energy'.
-Fad diets do not promote 'overall health'. They are a short term 'fix' which do nothing long term.0 -

I'm really curious as to what toxins you'll be removing. If you could name one that'd be awesome.0 -

Fasting has been around for centuries-it's not a fad. It is used in Native ceremonies and it is believed to be cleansing. Most of the medicines we use today have come from Native people and every year there are more scientific 'discoveries' that Native people have known about for ages. Don't let judgmental trolls influence your decision. Marketing is everywhere-on documentaries, at your doctor's office, in scientific journals, *and* on MFP. Do what feels right for you. Try it. If you don't like it at least you can say you tried.0

Drinking juice is NOT fasting, it is a liquid diet. Fasting is taking in no nourishment (only water) for whatever period of time. You are right though, fasting has a long history and is usually done for spiritual reasons: deny the body so you can concentrate on the spirit.0 -
@earlnabby There are native ceremonies where you fast, but you only ingest specific food or drink. One person or culture's definition of a word is not necessarily universal. In the same way, one culture may fast to "deny the body so you can concentrate on the spirit", but it doesn't mean that that statement is universal or the totality of the significance of every fasting ritual.0
