What do you listen to?

Options
I just started a running program and I want to get a playlist together. I'm just wondering what everyone here listens to when they work out? Any artists or song recommendations would be welcome :)

A sample of what I currently have..

Coheed and Cambria
Gorillaz
The Ting Tings

In the Moment - the songs Adrenalize & *kitten*
Nickleback - This Means War, Bottoms Up, and Kiss It Goodbye
Emilie Autumn - Fight Like a Girl, Time for Tea, Take the Pill and One Foot In Front of the Other (usually during that last burst)
Glitch Mob - Our Demons, Skullclub, I Need My Memory Back, Fistful of Silence
    Psy - Gentleman, Gangnam Style
    Imagine Dragons - Radioactive
UnSun - Lost Way, Why, and Mockers

These are a few of my go-to's.

I'm the weirdo that loves ambient and post-rock. Especially if I'm being a bit leisurely. El Ten Eleven, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, these are my staples. If I'm running I like a quicker beat/interesting beat, though singing and dancing along is a problem :)

Death Cab for Cutie- Sound of Settling.....I always pick up my pace to this song.
Fleetwood Mac- My Little Demon......this one too.
Tom Petty- You Don't Know How it Feels

It's hard to top progressive house for running.
Kinda hypnotizes and energizes me at the same time.
Artists like Deadmau5, Kaskade, Pretty lights, and Armin van Burren all have tons of great songs for running.
Check out "strobe" and "avaritia" by deadmau5, "I remember" and "move for me" by Kaskade

Right now the David Aude remix of Partition is my favorite running song.
When I'm not in the mood for pop music/remixes I have been listening to Arctic Monkeys on shuffle. Most of their stuff is upbeat and pretty good to workout to.

My suggestion is that you go on 8tracks.com :) You can pick 3 categories and it'll give you infinite playlist options - I generally pick things like 'energy' 'motivate' 'fitness and workout' Have found some wonderful stuff here :)

I have an extremely eclectic play list for running. Basically, I like lots and lots of different kinds of music  So anything that has a good beat and/or encouraging lyrics is going to be nominated for my playlist. Honestly, I think I have a couple hours worth of music on my "running music" playlist!

A few that come to mind:
    Aerosmith (most)
    Queen (most)
Life is a Highway (both versions)
Soundtrack from Pirates of the Caribbean
    Tusk
    etc

    No particular order:

    1) Mia Martina - Heartbreaker
    2) Alex Prydz - Call on me
    3) Mia Martina - Burning
    4) Dim Chris - Self Control

1 and 4 particularly have me moving faster...when it comes on my iphone, I just feel like giving it my all.

This is funny because my favorite kind of music is classic rock...it's just not the music I need to workout, though :)

But if you're looking for anything else, I always find that old 90's dance / techno music does the job too!

Within Temptation is very motivational to me, especially songs like Sinead, Faster, and Iron.
Paradise Lost - Accept the Pain
Sabaton is high energy with songs like Carolus Rex.

Lots and lots of metal. :)
