80 down/20 to go

Hello all,
Perhaps MyFitnessPal will be what I need to lose that last 20 - I need motivation to MOVE (so I am joining an online forum - ha ha!). I lost 85 lbs in 2010 and have maintained 80 of that weight loss. I did not diet, but incorporated a lifestyle change. I read lots of diet plans, but most cancer prevention books, newsletters, etc. and wanted to ensure I journeyed not on a temporary weight loss path, but a lifestyle that promoted cellular health.
My numbers were borderline pre-type 2 diabetic. I had chronic back pain - 2 surgeries L4 S5. And nervous about symptoms that could contribute to or indicate colon cancer in my future...if I did not change my ways I knew I would be in trouble.
Ironically, a few paragraphs on nutrition in a hormone balance book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer" changed my life and were the catalyst for my change. (Which I read after attending a local women's wellness seminar.) I became a student of reading ingredient labels, and learned to avoid all things artificial. I am now passionate about health education and blog when I get the chance - I love to try and come up with clean eating recipes.
I lost my weight without exercise, and I know I will need to get moving to lose the last 20. I do feel like a new person and my doctor said i took 30 years of my age (past 50 IRL). I am on no medications and have lots of energy, but I would like to incorporate some strengthening and balance exercises as my atrophied foot (much better with a good hiking boot) has me limping if I walk more than several miles and I lack power to bike uphill.
This is probably a long intro - but i look forward to learning from those who perhaps are on the same journey.

Congrats on the first 80! That must have taken hard work and dedication.
The community here is great and will give you all the help/encouragement you need to lose that final 20.
Rooting for ye!0 -
Dedication in changing my eating habits and making smarter choices, but hard work...no. I don't think I ever broke a sweat other than the day I visited my nephew's CrossFit gym and he nearly killed me with 54 squats by the time all was said and done. I couldn't walk for days.0
