My body says so lol. If I could I would live off of pancakes, donuts, pizza and icecream but if I fill up on that stuff I feel like crap even if I'm in a deficet. They're ok in moderation though.
I think he just falls into the all calories are neutral and you either need them to gain weight or you should avoid them to lose weight. The idea that food has some nutritional advantages beyond Carbs / Fats / Proteins doesn't make any sense to him. Were he a seafaring man he would be silent having long ago been struck down by scurvy.0 -
I used to make my own. Full fat, full eggs, real Mexican vanilla bean. People would call me and ask if I had made any so they could come over. Sadly, diabeetus stopped that.
Now, this is actually really good, Canadian brand, so I don't know if you can get it anywhere else.
I also have full-fat ice creams - which tend to have less added sugar. Quite often I find ice cream that has a first ingredient of "fresh cream" - Nestle "real dairy" are a good example. Only 17g of carbohydrate in a serving of the Cherry flavour, which is very similar to the Chapman's no-sugar-added.
I'm boring though - my favorite is a simple full-fat chocolate ice cream. Always has been.0 -
I am in love with Talenti Sea Salt Caramel. Just today, I took some to a co-worker. After eating almost the whole pint, she declared she hates me now
That is awesome!0 -
I always pick vanilla or Maple Walnut. I know, *yawn* right ? Minutes these flavours make me happy:)0

I'm afraid I would need the TARDIS for my favorite. Fratelli's Cappuccino Chip. Man, I miss that ice cream.0

YES. Good choice.0 -
I have never even heard of this ice cream everyone is praising---must find.
I don't always have a thing for ice cream but there is some good stuff out there.
What makes it ALL better is the presence of a good waffle cone. I would probably just eat waffle cones regularly alone if I had them around.0 -

Nothing said to really support your demonizing of ice cream. Sorry.0

let's just say there's a lot more to nutrition then calories in calories out. I agree you can lose weight as long as you're in a deficet no matter what you're eating, but the people who live the longest are not guzzling down refined sugars and fats like it's going out of style. What you eat does affect your health and how you feel. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out I feel a whole lot better when I eat things like fruits, vegetables, and lean meats over a donut. Does that mean I can't enjoy those foods in moderation? No but they are hardly going to form the bulk of my diet unless I want to feel tired, bloated and awful.
Has anyone stated that donuts or ice cream is the bulk of their diet? I don't think so. But I feel much better when I eat what I like in moderation and that includes a daily treat either ice cream, donut, cupcake or a whatever else. You might want to take a moment and actually look to see what most people are saying and check their diaries.0 -
I like to make my own. The latest batch is pomegranate-cognac gelato. Alton Brown has a really good chocolate ice cream recipe online, too.0

No one said to make those things the bulk of your diet. You are attempting to use that example to prove a point but that's just being extreme for no reason. You talked about ice cream, I talked about what's wrong with some ice cream then you end up at it doesn't take rocket science to know a diet mainly consisting of donuts. That was a weak attempt on your part to try and prove a weak point.0

I never said there was anything wrong with eating some icecream in moderation. Rather it's not good for you that's WHY it's best eaten that way. It sounded like you were trying to convince me that icecream itself is healthy...which I disagree with. I believe certain foods are unhealthy and that's why I limit them. I believe certain foods like fruits and vegetables are healthy so I try to eat a lot of them. Sounds like you don't like to categorize foods as good and bad; healthy and unhealthy.
Because no foods are inherently good or bad. It's how their used in the context of a whole diet that matters.
you can most certainly be unhealthy if you eat nothing but fruit. You'd be denying your body essential fats and proteins, iron, etc. If we're speaking extremes. That doesn't make fruit bad.
Anything, even ice cream, cam fit healthily into a diet that is comprised of proper nutrition. So, that is how there are no good or bad foods. No one here is saying ,"Eat nothing but ice cream and you'll be fine." That'd ridiculous. Moderation should be practiced in all things to find that balance.0 -
