I ate 1661 calories today? (461 over my limit).

I'm 5'5 1/8" and 125.4 pounds. My BMR is around 1,352 and I eat about 1,200 calories each day. Today, I was doing good until I just really wanted a bowl of ice cream and a spoon of peanut butter. That made my calorie intake go way over my calorie limit, and today I hardly exercised (was studying for my finals pretty much all day). Am I going to gain weight from this?

When I have a day like this, I look at my nutrition over a week. Remember, it takes 3500 calories to lose a pound, so MFP calculates your amount and subtracts 500 calories per day. So if you ate like this all the time, you would stay the same weight you currently are.
Honestly, it's okay. Don't worry about it, and focus on sticking to your goals tomorrow.0 -
As you have bmi of 20 so really don't need to lose weight. You in all likelihood ate a lot nearer what you should be to maintain. Another 200 calories and you'll be there0

Absolutely. But the good news is, if you eat a salad tomorrow, it totally undoes all the extra calories.
j/k One day does not make or break a diet, especially during finals. You're fine, and good luck on your exams.0 -
If you're 5'5'' and 125 lbs... with a BMR 1352. You should eat MORE than 1200 calories.
I'm 5'6'' and 127 lbs... with a BMR of 1450. I eat around 1850 calories + eat back exercise calories to maintain....
You need to eat an extra 3500 calories to gain 1 lb of fat... You won't gain fat instantly with a day being over!0 -
You're likely still at a deficit from your TDEE. Even if you're eating at maintenance, you're not going to GAIN from it. It might, might slow your loss for the week. As long as you're still at a deficit for the week, though, it's unlikely to cause any hiccup in your weight loss goals.
Just reset tomorrow.
ETA - If you're NOT trying to lose weight (based on your height/weight/BMI), you should be eating more to maintain.0 -

This. And you really shouldn't be trying to lose weight at 125 pounds anyway.0 -
No, you won't. It's entirely possible you had the cravings you did because you needed energy for your studies-fat is good for your brain. Also, seems like you are not eating enough calories as it is. I never think it is a good idea to maintain a high calorie deficit in during finals weeks-hurts grades. There are all sorts of studies linking sugar, high fat, loaded carb meals and improved performance on exams out there-give it a google.0
