Vacation disaster..

Sooo I'm brand new to this site but really would like to see how it helps me along my journey. (: Okay! Rant time.

This week my family and I went on vacation in California, and I told myself absolutely no cheating. (I'm just now getting over a series of recent binges that have occured since January. I never had an issue with binging until last year on thanksgiving. That was the first one..) Anyways, I've been extremely good and was good on vacation up until 4 days ago. My family talked me into letting loose because it isss vacation, and so I did... Since that day I've cheated hardcore up to today.

BUT. I've woken up every single morning at 6 and gone running. That's good at least..right?

We leave tomorrow and I plan on running in the morning and returning to my normal diet. I just feel ridiculously guilty and have the irrational fear that the weight I've gained from these cheats will show up on my body and all progress will have been lost. Has anyone else been in this position, and any advice?:/

Also, I've lost 85 lbs since I started my journey. But I'm not sure how to log that on here if I can? I've noticed people have the things on their comments that display their weightloss, and I'd like to as well but I'm not sure how..

Thanks for listening in advance.♡

Sounds like you have done fantastic.

It is good that you have taken the vacation, you should feel no guilt since you are planning on returning to your normal diet. Also the thing about vacations is that you also tend to be more active ie just walking everywhere. You are practicing sustainability.

Just do yourself a favour and do not weigh yourself for a week or two after you return. Vacation food tends to contain a lot more sodium and causes temporary weight gain.

Thank you so much! Your post was exactly what I needed. And yeah, sodium's a killer. I never fail to retain water because of it when I cheat.. But anyways, back on track as of tomorrow morning. Thanks again! :)

Great job on your progress!!! Don't feel too bad about it, vacations are supposed to be fun. Just a tip, don't go into a vacation thinking "I WON'T CHEAT!", instead go into a vacation thinking "Yeah I may not lose weight while on vacation, but I will just make sure I don't gain much." That way you are driven to make healthy choices, but don't feel awful if you eat some cake and ice cream too.

    Hope that helps!

Also, for the tickers go to the bar at the top and it's Apps -> Tickers and it will guide you from there, :)

Don't sweat it hon. Relax, don't ruin your vacation with thoughts of guilt and stress. I know the feeling, I went to Belize for 10 days and was at the mercy of whatever food my family wanted and had zero access to any gym...that was stressful to me because I'm very routine and I feel like I NEEDED it! I was sharing a room so I could not work out there either. It stressed me out and quite frankly half way in I realized it was taking away from my vacation, who wants STRESS on VACATION?! I gave in...indulged in some drinks, ate delicious food, and kicked my feet up in a hammock. Heck you ran so you're not doing as bad as you think anyways. And unless you are going on vacation every week, a week or two here and there won't kill you. Enjoy, make good memories, and just get back into your healthy routine when you return.

That's probably going to be me in a month! We're going in vacations too and I'm dreading it... although I have no intention to deprive myself, just not to go overboard... we'll see how it goes.

    don't call it a disaster...call it a vacation.

I went on vacation to Dominican earlier this year....couldn't log but didn't plan on it either.

I ate all the food I wanted, drank all the booze I wanted and enjoyed my vacation...I gained 4lbs...

Eh I didn't care it was vacation...funny thing was...it was gone in 2 weeks...and the first week back I did exercise but wasn't totally on track with hitting my goals...I was 1500 over my goal the week I got back.

    Still lost 1lb

The following week...500 over goal and lost 3lbs.

Vacation shouldn't be stressful...because of food.

Vacation is for enjoying yourself...while some will still try to eat healthy, I on the other hand didn't...I ate everything and drank as much as I wanted. I did gain approx 4 to 5 pounds but when I got home I went right back into my diet and working out and lost the weight in no time. You have done amazing and I know you will keep it up just stay motivated :-)

Thank you all! I did enjoy myself, but I always had that lingering guilt that wouldn't go away. I wish I would have just pushed those thoughts away and fully enjoyed my indulgences but eh, you live and you learn right? I ran this morning and now I'm back on track! Weigh in tomorrow..oh gosh. $:

You can't do much physical setback in only four days.

At most, you might gain a couple pounds once things settle down. Sounds to me like more mental disappointment.
Pretend it never happened and go from there. If I may also say that you have made great progress :)

Like everyone said, vacation is a time to enjoy yourself and have a break. You'll be fine. :) I had a very short 3 day stay in Florida last weekend and on Saturday and Sunday, even though I logged food to the best of my ability, I still went over by a lot. On Monday I weighed in and had lost nearly 2lb! lol Now I am back on track and enjoying the fact that I got the opportunity to have a small break.

Just make a U turn, that's what you did when you started your journey ! Devise a strategy that you may need to lean on from time to time !
