Hardest Category

Hello,

This is my first post so I would just like to know, in your diary for list of categories such as sugar, calories, sodium, etc. What is the hardest one for you to stay under. Calories is no problem for me but for some reason, I go over sugar and sodium which I know is one of the factors of fat especially sugar. It's no problems for me, just wondering which category is the hardest for you to stay under.

Same here... the sodium number for me is a flat 2300 mg and isn't adjusted upward to reflect exercise calories (like the other numbers), so when eating back my exercise calories, I'm virtually guaranteed to exceed the sodium limit.
  • Always sodium! But I never eat anything that I would consider salty or that I would need to eat in a low sodium version.

Sugar's not really a contributor to fat by itself. Assuming you don't have a specific medical issue like diabetes, there's not really a reason you need to track sugar separately from other carbohydrates.

Since I do a bit of running, I don't really worry about the sodium. But I'm usually over on carbs, and can never get enough protein.

My hardest one to hit seems to be fat. Consistently enough to where I'm considering swapping my non-fat greek yogurt to the traditional one. It's all about juggling. You'll never quite get it right.

Sodium, I think, is difficult for everyone, as everything that is processed has obscene amounts of it.

Bodies are a work in progress.

My Fat is always just a little over, and my sodium always goes over if I eat out. It's all pretty close though.

It is a pretty big contributor to calories though. I keep mine tracked because I eat hardly any fats and it's gonna have to be a sugar for fat trade in my diet eventually.

It's not a bigger contributor to calories than other carbs, really, except that it's often paired with fats in foods. Fats are also necessary, and do not make you fat if you maintain a caloric deficit, but ARE higher in calories per unit than proteins or carbs.

Yeah, I just don't have enough fats in my diet right now, drinking too much fruit juice and not eating enough ice cream.
  • My problem used to be sodium. But I started eating brown rice for dinner and that helped a lot. I also bought oatmeal, unsalted peanuts, and found I ended up having low sodium suddenly. So I THEN bought some gravy and that at least made the bland brown rice edible. Now I just aim for between 1500 mg to 2300 mg sodium. The AHA recommends a maximum of 1500 mg and everybody else seems to recommend a maximum of 2300mg. So I aim for between the two.

Then I noticed my protein was always satisfactory and looked up cholesterol. Wow. I've been eating too much of it. Thankfully I didn't need to change my diet much. Just no more than one egg a day, sadly.

Now my consistent problem is carbs. The only thing I can think of is jogging in place for half an hour if I go too far over it.
