Xanthelasma and worried

So,this pink patch was found sitting on my right eyelid.I am a 30 something girl ,166 cm tall who gained weight after pregnancy 2 years ago and have dropped from 87.7 to 71.8 kg in 8 months.I was never diabetic or hypertensive, but I have never checked my cholesterol levels...I dont dare to,honestly after I spotted the xanthelasma.I just rushed through my pics taken when my baby was 5 months old,I was heavy then, but I dint have a xanth.I googled and an overdramatic, extremely anxious girl like me should not have done it at the first place. Some studies say xanthelasma is a forerunner of heart disease. My grandparents lived beyond 80's,no high cholesterol in either sides of the family. My mom is diabetic, but well controlled. My dad is hypertensive since the age of 36 and there is no one in the family having a xanth.I am worried...I am scared to speak.I am planning to get my cholesterol done after 4 months when I attain my healthy weight.Any thoughts??:brokenheart:

Great job on the weigh loss progress.
Did you go to your family doctor or a dermatologist? They will run tests and give you information that will probably help you feel better.
Get the blood work now as a starting number and then get it done later after some changes. My understanding is that cholesterol is largely hereditary. But exercise and diet (and omega 3s) can help. Take pictures now if you want so you can compare it in a few months.
I hope that you are going to feel o.k.

  • Many thanks...I had great lab values all my life and dread the thought of having a lifestyle disease myself.Hate to say this, but I am a doc myself.
  • I had my total cholesterol done 5 years back when it was normal.I know total cholesterol doesn't mean anything!None in my family has cholesterol.
