Will eating out once/wine tasting push me back a lot?

So today I went wine tasting at a vineyard and I went to a Thai restaurant to eat. Unfortunately, I ordered the stir-fry egg-plant and chicken which ended up having this sauce all over it that did not look like it would be too healthy. I still ate it, which ended up KILLING me afterwards, since my body has gotten used to eating clean foods only. However, I was wondering if those two things would set me back a lot. I DID do some light lifting and I went hiking today so that's the good part. I've just been working way too hard to hinder my weight loss for accidentally cheating with some thai sauce and wine tasting. Do you guys sometimes have a cheat day or end up ordering something at a restaurant that ended up being less healthy than you thought? Not only that but I can't count the calories because it's a small restaurant so I have no idea how much I ate! Ugh!!

No. Just get back on track. Moderation is the key. One day isn't going to hurt.0

If you want to be successful, you need to make it something you can live with for life! You can't expect to always be perfect. Allow yourself a little freedom so that it's sustainable. Do t beat yourself up about it, that does more harm than anything.0

The reason you want to lose weight is not the result of one day of over consumption so one day will not ruin your weight loss
Enjoy yourself and return to your eating plan the next day0 -
Nothing says "clean only" like McDonald's.0

Cheating, eating extra calories, diet breaks, whatever you call it are healthy for you and a natural part of losing weight. Your body can use a surplus of calories every now and then. You may weight a little extra for the next few days due to water retention and your body not used to the added calories but give it time and that should go away. If you actually ate 4000-4500 over your daily goal then you may have gained a pound (A say this because it takes 3,500 calories to gain a pound and your MFP goal is usually 500-1000 less than your normal body's expenditure in order to lose weight). A pound is easy to work off with a little extra time and effort.
However, I don't believe you "accidentally cheated" and that seems like an excuse to justify having a good time. You knew you were going to go wine tasting and you should have figured that would be extra calories. As far as the restaurant, it's simple to ask if the food is going to be prepared with sauce, butters, oils. I ask when I go to small places and am unsure of something. I always ask for dressings and sauces on the side. While it's good to cheat, trying to make excuses for cheating is not healthy and you could end up feeling guilty about it. You posting this shows that you have at least some remorse for your eating. In the future, ask questions about the food you are ordering if you are unsure. That's part of the waiter/waitresses job and I doubt they would dislike you for asking.0 -
I agree with everyone else, and also want to point out that not knowing how much you ate isn't a big problem either. You shouldn't starve yourself to make up for those calories, the point of logging is to hold ourselves accountable and get a realistic picture of what we're eating. So make your most educated guess, log what you can, and move on. I'm not a big Gone With the Wind fan, but Scarlett certainly had one thing right: "Tomorrow is another day."0

I agree. We don't accidentally cheat just like we didn't accidentally become overweight. One day won't hinder your progress except for maybe some initial weight gain from all the sodium and the fact you ate a lot more in one sitting than your body is used to. I would've tried my damnedest to log something though if it was that important to me.
just get back on track like it didn't happen and maybe try to prepare for your next indulgence.0 -
Every once in a while is fine. You just have to make sure you don't have too many 'bad' days next to each other, or you can undo the rest of the week's good work, and that can be demoralising.
Wine tasting incidentally has never set me back. It's big meals out in non-chain restaurants which get me. I swear, some places must cook in butter and add extra butter. I can't explain the gain otherwise.
Once you've slipped up, accept you've gone over and just enjoy how you got to there. Tomorrow is another day.0
