Thinking about trying whey powder for faster results

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes but on the lower end, so I don't have to go on insulin or anything like that-just Metformin and weight loss. Although my profile says I've only lost 4 pounds, I've actually lost 25 since my diagnosis but only 4 since joining Myfitnesspal.
I've been under my allotted calories every day and have been doing 20-30 minutes of cardio 5-6 days a week, and am frustrated by the slow movement of the scale. In addition to trying to get healthy, I'm also trying to improve my appearance to hopefully improve my opera and musical career. I have a big audition in 3 weeks, and am thinking about trying whey powder to jump start the scale. Has anyone had success with it? I don't want to be suffering with starvation or crying for something crunchy all the time! I saw an article that says I could expect quick results with 4 shakes, 3 100-calorie snacks and a 400-calorie dinner. Thoughts? Wish me luck at my audition! If I get it I'll post details.

Good luck at the audition!0 -
Why not just have lean protein (chicken/fish etc) instead of 3 shakes? Protein is protein. I would rather eat it than drink it. The only time I use it is in my coffee and yogurt parfait. You could also have a protein bar? Questbar is pretty good. There are a lot of options out there. Try researching and looking into people's food diary to get ideas0

The 'quick results' article is just advocating a low calorie diet. Whey protein is just a powdered protein source, it has calories just as lean meat does. The weight does come off slowly, but for most of us quicker than it went on if you keep a sensible deficit and measure/ weigh/ log all food.
Good luck with the audition.0 -
Well, I tried the shakes all last week and didn't lose any weight. I had trouble sticking to the plan-it called for 4 shakes, 3 100-calorie snacks and a 400-calorie dinner. 4 shakes was just way too much, and they really get you running to the bathroom (not to be crude)! I ended up doing more like 2 shakes, sometimes 3. I was under my calories every day and exercising almost every day. Frustrated that the scale is not moving! Gonna have to break out the Spanx for the audition! Will continue with 2 shakes a day since the stuff was so expensive and it's a quick meal.0

Was the "running to the bathroom" from drinking the liquids or the cause of diarrhea...just curious if you may be allergic to something in it?0 -

Lactose intolerant? I know when I use whey protein powder, I only use the isolate kind which is lactose free. I am mildly lactose intolerant.0
