You are NOT as popular as you think you are.

Maybe we will become more popular among the "stick it to the man" crowd, now.0

Parsley eaters, all others.0 -
Well, I, for one, am outraged! OUTRAGED, I SAY!
This insult will not stand.0 -
Probably because IIFYM is just eating like a normal person might while happening to hit your macro goals. It's not really a diet style in my mind. I just eat what I want.0
-
Nonsense. I'm very popular.0

Dang I didn't see Clean Eating diet either0

Dang I didn't see Clean Eating diet either
I think it got broken down into several popular subdivisions.0 -
IIFYM has too few rules to be included in these moronic lists. Not restrictive enough, diets have to be hell, didn't y'all know?!0
-
Did you just call me a dangerous minority?0
-
What's next? Sushi without the fish?0
-
Did you just call me a dangerous minority?
as a white male I believe you have to overuse some form of personal expression to regain minority status...0 -
Aww, you guys can all sit at the most popular Atkins table with me if you like. You can have my gelato and cake since I'm not eating it.0

Thank you.0 -
Yeah, eating at a calorie deficit while getting adequate macro and micro nutrients and not forcing yourself to eliminate anything just makes too much sense. Who would want to do that?
But "Flexitarian" made the list...0 -

We are now best friends.0 -

I'm a practicing Flexitarian in front of my bathroom mirror.0 -
Actually, maybe we should be relieved. After all, we keep warning others of all those POPULAR, here-today-gone-tomorrow fad diets. So if IIFYM was super "popular" we'd sound a bit hypocritical, wouldn't we?

Dangit. My entire life and self worth revolve around doing what everyone else is doing! If I'm not with the popular crowd...

I demand a ridiculously long, complex, and overly dramatic recount, with plenty of interviews featuring distraught bystanders.
And while you're at it, some ice cream. The good stuff.0 -
The blog responses sound nothing like an MFP thread. . . .nope NEVER!!!! hehehe. . . . so IIFYM didn't crack the list, shucks. Funny stuff folks and my favorite definition is still the Paleo diet.0

I just can't win today. ..

The term flexitarian may make me start throat punching people. Why do people have to keep coming up with stupid names for things that are already named. Last time I checked a flexitarian was an omnivore aka someone who ate both animals and plants.0

Cute.

But I eat SPECIAL sometimes! I'm a part-time gluten free all organic flexitarian!0 -

This. IIFYM is just a new name for what used to be called a "balanced" or "flexible" diet. And compared to the other "diets" it's not really much of a diet really. The actual IIFYM name is just something some groups use to promote their approach/website/etc. And honestly, I don't think IIFYM is flexible enough since it lends to this idea that you have to hit these three numbers, where I think it's better to think of fat and protein as a MINIMUM to reach. Still, even with the limitations IIFYM is still much better than any restrictive diet. Assuming of course one doesn't suffer from insulin sensitivity or other metabolic problems.
The "Eating Strategies" on the blog post range from actual medically researched diets, to restrictive diets, to lifestyle choices such as Vegetarians and vegans.
I've taken a graduate level cardiovascular epidemiology class at UCLA and a Nutrition class at UC Berkeley. And the only diets on that list that were a part of large controlled research studies are the DASH diet and the Mediterranean diet. These diets were aimed to alleviate persons that had hypertension or other metabolic issues.
Lastly, the original post is very nonsensical without any real content.0 -
