How to calculate weight for sets.

Apologies if this has already been answered I just couldnt find the post anywhere.

I have literally just starting to exercise with my very girly dumbells and I know they are of a small weight but hey we all have to start from somewhere right.

What i was wondering is, when MFP asks for how many sets, how many repetitions and how much weight per set, do i only put in the weight of one dumbell which is 2kg or the weight of both which would be 4kg. Im using both at the same time so i guess it would make sense to put 4kg but for a total noob I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks

If you are using both at the same time in the same hand then combine the weight. Otherwise record the weight that it says on the dumbbell.

I think it is preference, I record combined weight of the repetition. Ex: DB curls 25lb in each hand 50 lb total. My thoughts are it is simultaneous and you are lifting 50 lbs together. just my thoughts

It really depends on how you want to do it. Out of habit whenever i do any DB exercise i just add 's after it like DB Curls 45's, Chest Press 125's, ect ect. The only time id put them together is if you were trying to figure out a starting point for say barbell exercises. I have a binder I record all my weights in so not positive about MFP. All it matters in the end is that you're consistent with the way you choose to record it.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated :)
I think I'll combine them because I am lifting them both at the same time.

    Enjoy your day everyone :D
